You really expected the Denver Post to tell the truth, esp. about a Republican? I hope McInnis sues the Post and the Hasan family for millions.

The Court’s report is all the evidence he needs to convince a jury that he was framed, lynched, and deballed by a bunch of liars, incompetents and media derelicts (as in dereliction of duty to investigate fully the facts).

The only “post” I want in Denver is their obituary “posted” on their front door.

Looks like McInnis was set up in Colorado, which led to that disastrous Gubernatorial election.

The question is why the Denver Post didn’t conduct a more thorough review before publishing the story? Where is the outrage from the supposedly “conservative” Denver Post editorial staff like Dan Haley, Vincent Carroll and Chuck Plunkett?

So what about Littwin, the author of the hitpiece? Is he a "conservative", too? What kind -- a Mittbot? Bushman? RiNO drone? Democrat?

Did the editorial-page editor get punked by a determined Dim or RiNO triggerman out to torpedo a Tea Party person? Is that why the editorial-page editor left to go to work for a bank? Or was it his idea?

The Hasans were obviously involved. Was the bank in it somehow, too? How about Nancy Pelosi?

Which hands were stirring belladonna into the pot? Who poisoned the soup?

Get in bed with a CAIR-supporting group of Islamists and you get burned. McInnis did not commit palegerism, he committed a far worse offense. He prostituted himself to a bunch of Islamists.

So why didn’t McInnis call out the Post as “putting Joseph Stalin to shame” and threaten to link the Hasan family to Hizbollah funding, or some other such strawman, to force them to back off? The GOP needs to learn to fight dirtier than the Democrats, or we will never get anywhere.

Yes, McInnis was dealt with unfairly, but this article/thread has some distortions.

Malik Hasan was an MD who was an early pioneer in creating HMO's. He made a fortune organizing, buying and selling them. While nominally Muslim their public image has been secular and Republican.

McInnis was the Congressman from the West Slope district for many years and was popular and "safe." When Ben Campbell imploded as Republican Senator, McInnis had that seat for the taking. Instead, he decided to retire, join a big law firm and cash in. One of the ways he cashed in was to take $300,000 from the Hasan family to write a series of articles on water policy but produced the articles by paying a retired guy peanuts to do the work. That guy plagiarized a lot of stuff written by Justice Hobbs of the Colorado Supreme Court, a former water lawyer.

The Hasans shelled out a bunch of money to promote the candidacy of the son, Ali, for the Republican nomination for State Treasurer, which didn't excite anyone. They wanted McInnis's endorsement, which he refused. The Hasans not unreasonably thought, hey, what did we get for our $300,000??

Then came the Hasan/Denver Post hit piece. When you lay down with dogs, you can pick up fleas.

After all this came out, McInnis paid back the $300,000.

Here's the bottom line. McInnis was never really a RINO, but never really a conservative either. His brand was aging. The party establishment promoted him and cleared the field for him except for that moron Maes. Nobody was very excited about him, but he seemed to be cruising to the Governor's mansion given the dynamics of 2010 against the Democrats.

Then came the Hasan/Denver Post hit. That was all the Tea Party needed to push Maes over the top, a psycho-bunny candidate they had not vetted. Basically, he was an unemployed guy who needed a job and lied about his resume to get it, but he seemed to talk a good Tea Party line.

Once everybody figured out who he was his numbers fell so low the Republican Party was almost de-listed as a major political party in this state.

This happened so late in the process that Tom Tancredo could only jump in as a third party candidate. That, plus all his baggage meant in reality he could not assemble a majority vote even as the Tea Party gave up on their Maes disaster and flocked to Tom.

And that's how we got Governor Hickenlooper.
