She took the cat and sat in the bathtub, covered with towels.

I saw your post last night on this thread and couldn't help but think what a brave thing it was to do to try to shelter the cat in all that chaos. I wondered how the cat reacted to the situation? Am I correct in thinking your SIL's home was not directly hit?

Their house is about 8 blocks north of the tornado’s path. The neighbor across the street had a tree fall into the livingroom, but my brother’s house only had a branch on the roof. There were trees and powerlines down all around them and a couple of houses down the street lost parts of their roofs, but no real damage in their neighborhood. My brother was out all last night and today clearing roads. He said that there wasn’t much point in searching some blocks for survivors, but he understood that luck has a funny way of showing itself.
