major tornado hit south side,,hospital damage..home destroyed
the weather channel live coming up
Sorry...but I have a hard time understanding anyone making light of death...and tragedy. I especially have a hard time with it occurring on THIS forum...which I have been a member of since 1998.
Free Republic is supposed to represent the BEST of what America is...and for some reason lately, anytime there is a thread about a disaster or tragedy...or death...there is some yahoo on that thinks it's his time on stage at The Improve.
That bothers me. FR is better than this.
Yes, he is....but have you heard from your familly yet...Trust the weather will be good for your husbands flight. I’m sure someone there has checked on his mother though. Let’s hope that is the case and she is fine.
I'm not sure which part of Texas St. your relatives are on. The north part is probably OK, but the south part might have been right in the path.
Prayers for your family and all others there.
FR is better than that and I need to make sure my posts are directed to the intended receiver.
Hotline established for medical personnel who can travel to Joplin, Missouri following tornado. Call (417) 624-4411.
Tweeter
I’ve passed the hotline number on to a bunch of folks.
Please update as you can and we’ll keep praying!
It's unofficially open season on these scum.
Just heard from my brother-in-law, who finally made it into Joplin. My MIL lost her garage, trees, shingles and part of her family room, but she is OK., just a bit rattled. She’s a tough old bird, but really upset that her “Holly Hobby” collection is gone with the wind.
B-I-L is part a search and rescue team from east Kansas. Says the devastation is terrible and there will be more body bags needed soon. So sad.
Please continue your prayers for all those affected.
The Joplin Globe’s Website is back up, with updayes:
” On Joplin School District’s Facebook page, they have stated that “no school will be held on any Joplin school campus on Monday. Staff, do not report unless requested. Several district facilities have sustained substatial damage and we are assessing the situation.”
The district stated that Facebook will be their only method of communication for the immediate future.”
Depends on what part of Texas St. I talked to my son about an hour ago. He lives on Wall Ave near 4th and he said that area has no damage or any signs of a bad storm. We think his business is gone which is on 20th east of Range Line.
I can’t get in touch with my son that lives down there. Does anybody know the general area of destruction?
Very relieved to hear your MIL is ok. Prayers answered tonight.
Great news:)
Dang. I know her....she went through that! I have friends in Joplin that are luckily okay, but one has lost the home per Facebook. Horrible.
I can’t imagine this really destroying 75 percent of Joplin as that quote said....BUT it almost sounds like it as many people who have no homes.
From the Joplin Globe:
“Freeman Hospital is treating hundreds of people who have been injured, with many of them being transferred by ambulance and helicopter to hospitals out of the area.”
So good to know your MIL is ok, but sorry to hear about the damage and her collection. Let her know many were praying for her. Your BIL is going to be a busy guy. God bless him.
Very much a can do attitude in America’s people!
To be frank to those talking about the AL tornadoes....frankly if the early reports are anywhere true, this could end up being worse than Birmingham.
