Somali government troops backed by African Union forces have advanced towards the main market in the capital Mogadishu, a stronghold of the Islamist rebels of al-Shabab. The government says it has taken several key locations in the city after heavy fighting.
It says it now controls around half of Mogadishu.
Correspondents say this marks a considerable change of fortunes -- earlier this year the Somali authorities held little more than a few roads around the presidential palace.
And here's a map showing the location of the Bakara Market that the 'peacekeepers' are advancing on.
Did you see what they did in the Ivory Coast??
Wow, they have gained acres and acres of ground and may soon control a hald percent of the country. lol.
Doesn’t make sense strategically, of course, but I cannot wait when the Chinese get in there, and their solution for every little cultural problem is carpet-bombing.
I hope they shoot the heads off EVERYONE there.
Ancient Chinese Seclet..!! ^_^
The US military has actually helped them out a bit. Maybe if they can win it’ll stop the sea jihading Somalis.
The Bakara market again,we had some real trouble there back in ‘93.
Oh, indeed I did. That was a French/UN operation since the President of Cote D'ivoire was making them look like fools and holding up their financial and social engineering interests.
Somalia is a weird stalemate where the government, entirely paid the U.N., has sat in the 12 blocks they control for a decade behind mercenaries and passed laws and resolutions they can not enforce. Now something has prompted them, perhaps the new President who was a U.S. resident, to go on the offensive, and they have talked the countries that supply the troops to support them. I believe they have also started paying the Somali troops regularly, something that they were not very good at before.
They literally installed the radical muzzies into power
Level every muzzie village and don’t stop until you get to Egypt. Then kill every dictator and give it all back to the people.
Then let them kill each other.
Thanks Pan_Yan.
