I don’t think it was out of fear of being called racist by the media..the media calls everyone racist, people don’t listen to that crap anymore. Jews have been voting Dem for years and years. Even when my parents immigrated here from Israel in 1969 they were automatically registered as Democrats, even though they have majority of the time voted Republican..Its just the way it is, you automatically think Jewish = Democrat
That's understandable. In 1969 you had some good Democrats: Scoop Jackson for one, and some very honorable (albeit liberal) Democrats, like Hubert Humphrey. It all started to go downhill with George McGovern, I think...
