In an effort to satisfy those arguing he needs to seek congressional authorization to continue US military activity in accordance with the War Powers Resolution, President Obama wrote a letter to congressional leaders this afternoon suggesting that the role is now so limited he does not need to seek congressional approval.
Since April 4, the president wrote, U.S. participation has consisted of: (1) non-kinetic support to the NATO-led operation, including intelligence, logistical support, and search and rescue assistance; (2) aircraft that have assisted in the suppression and destruction of air defenses in support of the no-fly zone; and (3) since April 23, precision strikes by unmanned aerial vehicles against a limited set of clearly defined targets in support of the NATO-led coalition's efforts.
A senior administration official told ABC News that the letter is intended to describe a narrow US effort that is intermittent and principally an effort to support to support the ongoing NATO-led and UN-authorized civilian support mission and no fly zone.
The US role is one of support, the official said, and the kinetic pieces of that are intermittent.

Most of Obama’s base thinks “kinetic” is a place in New England.
How’s that ‘rule of law’ working out for ya, America? =.=
That ain't war??
As they say on American Idol: "America voted and here are the results"
Curious as to the “what me worry” aspect about NATO. Personally think we should can NATO, and put it on the shelf.
If there’s need of an alliance in the future we can create that alliance quickly in todays modern high tech World.
Perhaps if we did can NATO, the message would be clearly sent to pull their Socialist heads out of their Socialist butts ‘cause we ain’t gonna be there to die for their stupidity again.
“How did this Nitwit ever get in the white house?”
The kinetic media.
“How did this Nitwit ever get in the white house?”
1. A very high percentage of uneducated voters
2. Voter fraud and corruption
3. Conflicts within the ranks of Republican party voters
#4. Overall, I think God is allowing us to have the leaders spawned by our growing secularism and culture of death, a huge segment of which no longer admires and aspires to VIRTUE.
If members of Congress can’t find their...members, and start impeachment proceedings, we the people should start recall proceedings where the law allows. Torches and pitchforks anywhere else.
The Political Ruling Class is due for a takedown. I wonder if the people will purge the Republican Party of them or form a new party. The GOP is going the way of the Whigs.
“I don’t care who you are, this is not normal behavoir for a male.”
It can be very normal behavior for a male. I have observed the same in several males, including military guys, who are very rugged and courageous MEN. To attack Boehner in this way is, I believe, uninformed.
Strangely silent from the usual suspects.
I would say “I wonder why?” but that would be a lie.
The guy cries more than a pregnant woman or an 8 year old girl.
I am not ‘attacking’ him. I'm saying something is wrong with him. He either has a mental or hormonal imbalance.
This behavior is not at all ‘normal’ for a man his age. Maybe, if he is experiencing menopause or something.
This is not about Boehner. If saw my own father or my boss crying all the time over nothing like that, I would have them checked out too.
The guy is unstable. How is he going to stand up to Obama, Pelosi, and Reid, if he starts crying in the middle of the negotiations?
Good.
NO, I am not joking. There is nothing wrong with him. This was a thread to sound off on the horrendous policies of Obama. Why are you framing Boehner in a negative focus ...rather than Obama?
>>> So, who is going to cast the stone that shatters his imperial feet made of clay mingled with iron?
Interesting link to prophecy! had not even thought of this.
However, I thought the statue represented the Roman empire over past and future time lines... Then again, maybe it’s the fall of the strongest nation that brings the new roman empire to it’s knees.
Anyway, if it’s a valid connection, maybe it’s God Himself who throws the stone, because Obama certainly seems beyond the reach of any mortal. I guess it’s all about the timing.
People think it's a tall order but Universities need to be starved. Yes some are practical to the economy but most are nothing but a problem. They produce "educated" leaches upon society.
Boehner needs to go so we can get someone in there who will challenge the Obama administration which, obviously, does not consider itself bound by any ‘American’ rules or laws of any kind.
How can we have a ‘balance of power’ if Congress surrenders all power to Obama.
Boehner has to go. We need someone more aggressive to challenge this juggernaut coming from the executive branch. He is not doing it. Whether he cries or not, he is just not doing the job.
Personally, I think your use of hyperbole with regard to this issue underlies a basic lack of substantive support for your opinion.
