JERUSALEM Sen. Barack Obama told the Palestinian leadership during a trip to the region in July he supports their rights to a capital in eastern Jerusalem, but he asked them to keep his remarks secret, according to a Lebanese newspaper.
The Al-Akhbar daily, known to have close contacts to Palestinian leaders in Lebanon, quoted sources in Ramallah claiming that in a meeting in July with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, the two heard from Obama "the best things they ever heard from an American presidential candidate."
The report claimed Obama told Abbas and Fayyad he "supports the rights of the Palestinians to east Jerusalem, as well as their right to a stable, sovereign state," but he petitioned them to keep the remarks confidential.

I wonder how the liberal jews feel about this?
Playing both sides in the Arab world may be fine when they do it, but if the president of the United States does it, things will go horribly wrong. Consider wrong in the megaton ordinance type of going wrong.
Re: liberal jews
Well, 2 thoughts:
1 - I’m more worried for America now than ever
2 - The East Coast liberals dismissed stories about the utter betrayal of Zero in 2008 ... now they know the truth
Re: Zero is totally wrong (in megatons)
Yep ... I could not agree more
Zero has no sense of history, American culture or what the bible says. He would be scared s***less to say what he said today if he was a practicing Christian.
He has no fear of God; God will not be mocked.
They now know who is Israel’s friend and who is not. Obama is the friend of Palestine, NOT Israel. America will pay a dear price for this betrayal of our friend. ANY nation that curses Israel, God will curse. Obama may think he’s a god, but he will soon find out, he is NOT. All leaders must bow to the only true God and He has said He will support and defend Israel and they will not be overcome by its enemies.
Re: Every Knee Shall Bow
Amen
But, as always, Obama promises something, then takes no leadership role to make it happen.
He has done this to liberals (single payer)
He has done this to blacks (freebies)
He has done this to hispanics (amnesty)
He has done this to Libyans
Etc
Etc
Etc
The “sons-o-bitches” already have a capital in Mecca. They cannot have any part of Jerusalem.
And there are those who still think Obama is not a Mussie!
Obama won by a relatively narrow margin against an incredibly weak candidate in 2008. He cannot afford to alienate the Jewish people. Just a few percentage points, if combined with a decent Republican candidate could make him history. Many die-hard Dems I know regret voting for him - I doubt they would vote for any Republican, but they may simply stay home in 2012, in much the same way that many Republicans chose to stay home in 2008. I would LOVE to see him get his head handed to him Carter/Reagan style, but I would settle for a more modest loss.

Wow, too many threads to keep up with so Ill include this on a few of them and maybe comment on a few.
The teleprompter was working, he didnt screw up, but the speech failed. Not so much because of the words, but the man behind them.
I know lots of Freepers wont want to hear this, but he didnt say much that GWB didnt say. GWB talked about facts on the ground, and 1949 (worse than 67) borders, BHO said The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states. . Pretty much the same thing. It should satisfy Obama supporters in the context of supporting Israel, but whats different is the man. GWB made a lot of mistakes in the context of this conflict, the importance of which is exaggerated. Hamas is where they are because of GWB s insistence on democracy. A phrase Hussein has borrowed, big time. Hes becoming the new Bush, in words, actions, a failure. And Condi, she viewed Israel as the Jim Crow of her childhood.
Im a bit surprised at the extent negative reaction, though I could have told the teleprompter writers to stay away from the 1967 borders phraseology. Unless the intent was to incite the Muslim world. But even the Arab street doesnt seem to believe him. The fool may have been too clever by a half.
At the core is the fact that no one believes Barrys words about Israels need for security. Heck, most of us dont believe his words about the security of our borders.
The good news, an adult will be addressing Congress tomorrow.
When Bibi meets with Barry, wonder if hell brag to Bibi how he killed bin Laden.
I never believed the Bushes were particular friends of Israel although better than Obama. My gut just tells me that Obama has no use for Israel. His background convinces me that he dislikes Jews. I may be wrong but I’ll stick to my gut reaction.
My hope is Sarah Palin. I think she’ll be great on the subject.
