Its hard for me to believe that the Pelosi couch debacle didn’t turn off all conservatives to Newt forever. That they were going to throw him a fundraiser in the first place is just plain weird.

That they were going to throw him a fundraiser in the first place is just plain weird.Newt now takes his marching orders from his liberal wife Calista, who is very similar in politics (and looks) to Cindy McCain. I think this explains why Newt went over to the dark side.
I think some conservatives still believe in the old Newt, before his conversion to his liberal wife. Hopefully they know better now.

I agree. How could anyone after the "cozy couch" photo take him serious. That was my turning point with him. He offered up a degree of reckless judgement that should have erased his name from all conservative circles forever.
