Its hard for me to believe that the Pelosi couch debacle didn’t turn off all conservatives to Newt forever. That they were going to throw him a fundraiser in the first place is just plain weird.

Newt now takes his marching orders from his liberal wife Calista, who is very similar in politics (and looks) to Cindy McCain. I think this explains why Newt went over to the dark side.

I think some conservatives still believe in the old Newt, before his conversion to his liberal wife. Hopefully they know better now.

I agree. How could anyone after the "cozy couch" photo take him serious. That was my turning point with him. He offered up a degree of reckless judgement that should have erased his name from all conservative circles forever.
