Via the Weekly Standard, we’ve joked about this sort of liberal messaging before but I honestly didn’t think we’d see it. Surely, after years and years of leftist whinging about “the politics of fear,” they wouldn’t resort to imagery of Republicans actually killing frail old ladies.
And yet here we are.
Philip Klein, who’s more in touch with economic reality than the authors of this spot, wonders when we’ll see an ad showing granny pushing kids off a cliff as an homage to the unsustainability of Boomer-heavy Medicare rolls. Would that ad be accurate, though? Young adults are famously pro-Obama; they’re inviting their own fleecing by supporting the guardian of an outdated, fiscally ruinous entitlement system. An ad that’s truer to life would have them tossing money at granny and then diving headfirst off the cliff voluntarily.
The commies are getting scared, as they should be. Time to bring out their scare tactics. It’s all they’ve got. Their dream of a communist Amerika is starting to crumble.
Well LBJ beat Goldwater didn’t he?
Someone should redo that ad, but have a DEBT bomb go off....
This vid has the quality of a Junior high prank.
But then it does come out of the mind of a Dum.
You haven’t seen anything yet.
To be honest, outside of the twenty percent of the most conservative people in the country, the idea of doing *anything* to Medicare or social security, outside of raising the benefits, is so far off the table it as to be laughable.
It ain’t called the third rail for nothing. I know quite a few people my age who would gladly assassinate anyone who proposed the slightest restriction in the benefits. I would say that at least 75 percent of people over 50 are counting on Medicare and Social Security, at at LEAST their current levels adjusted for inflation, as a major component of their retirement.
One can do the math all day and talk about self reliance and the constitution all night, and they *will* have their ass handed to them by even the most irresponsible and overtly anti-American politician who promises to print enough money and raise taxes on ‘that fellow behind the tree’ to keep the checks flowing.
The MSNBC turds will be showing this ad and smirking at their tiny audience for days.
Mark Levin said a better ad would be 300 million people going over a cliff if something isn’t done about entitlements.
I was hoping it would be so stupid it would be funny.
It was actually pathetically lame.
Yet, George W. Bush broached the idea of "privatizing" social security during the 2004 campaign. In Florida.
And he won the state handily -- on the strength of a heavy majority among the 65-and-over crowd.
Remember that Bush's initiative to reform and privatize social security in 2005 had a positive prelude.
is the woman in the chair a democrat voter?
Cavuto put up a good argument with the creator of this ad today. Predictably, she couldn’t see any view but her own:
Hey, if she’s sitting there bitching about how everyone owes her a living no matter what the cost, I’d push her over the cliff too.
Let the "assassinations" begin, Social Security has gone two years with out a cost of living adjustment (which qualifies as a "restriction" in benefits as I see it) because the lying bastards do not include food or fuel costs in calculating the COL index.

GtG
PS 99.5% of people you count as assassin material, will gripe and moan, maybe even work themselves into a lather for a bit, then retire to their nice safe pastures just like the sheep they in fact are. It's safe inside the fence, don't ya know?
