I don't watch any of these shows, but Newt is often "lost in translation" and doesn't fit well into sound bites (except for something like bumper-sticker "Drill Here, Drill Now" that he advocated others to print).

I feel cognitive dissonance when I read things ascribed to him that he supposedly "said" than when I hear his first-hand interview or speech. I can see a thought process that I haven't seen in most Republican politicians, let alone GOP Presidential candidates. I can't be the only one, I hope.

You're not the only one. That's why I prefer to watch clips myself for added context. Perhaps having been fed a steady diet of filtered soundbites, too many are uncritical thinkers.
