I once listened to a Muslim try and tell me they were more moral then Americans in his country. So far I can’t figure out what Muslim country he was talking about, I keep scratching countries off the list, it must not of been Syria.
Your Muslim friend may actually be correct. Muslims in general seem to stick to their moral philosophy more so than most western cultures.
The important point to remember is that while the concept of "morals" is universal, the actual "morals" are not. They are dependent on the religion or philosophical underpinnings one believes in. Christian and Muslim "morals" are not the same.

He was probably right, as long as you keep in mind that he was defining "moral" as "acting in accordance with Quranic doctrine". In Islam, killing infidels is moral.
