Newt Gingrich was on Meet the Press this morning in his first Sunday show appearance since announcing his intention to challenge President Obama for the Democrat nomination, apparently.
Andrew Stiles at NRO has the details:
Newt Gingrichs appearance on Meet the Press today could leave some wondering which partys nomination he is running for. The former speaker had some harsh words for Paul Ryans (and by extension, nearly every House Republicans) plan to reform Medicare, calling it radical.

I am attacking the leftwingers by attacking Newt. He wants an individual mandate on health care insurance, and has wanted it since the 1990's -- and that's as leftwing as you get.
Patiently awaiting your FIFTH whacky reason on why what Newt said isn't what Newt said.
It is not "NEWT," as in the small comical lizards of biology 101.
Of course, compared to Huckabee, Neut easily qualifies as a the smarter guy in that particular trailer park.
If, after all his years in politics, Newt is sucked in by Gregory, then he isn’t up to the job. I don’t think he was fooled by Gregory - I think he told us how he REALLY feels. This is the same Newt who ridiculed Tea Party candidates. He got some things done in the 90’s but has been in DC too long. He is now a liberal with an “R” behind his name. We can’t afford another John McCain and that is exactly what Newt is.
In any event, Newt did us all a favor this weekend. He is toast as a Republican candidate and won’t be around muddying up the waters. We need a true conservative (Paul Ryan style) and Newt not only isn’t up to the job, he is arrogant enough to think that the voters are the fools. I just hope he takes Karl Rove with him when he stumbles off the stage.
He's been "doing stuff" but it wasn't involved in governance.
His most subtly nuanced expressions carry with them the whiff of mid 90s positions.
It's like he stepped out of Obama's time machine ~ but from long before there were 57 states.
Some of the folks people accused of being RINOs were considered hard core Republicans at the very center of the Conservative Renaissance ~ in 1981!
I'm old enough to remember when many of today's Conservative litmus tests were actually things Democrats thought about. We were off on other stuff. These things have a lot to do with specific government policies we want to see implemented ~ and that's a problem in itself ~ Conservatives who imagine we can improve life through government policies. At best we can punish thieves and murderers, and policy adjustments have to be popularly driven or they're just more BS.
Some things take care of themselves. No doubt we have many Conservatives who thought of the guy who runs the IMF as some sort of master of conspiracies and Bilderberger intrigue. Turns out he was a common whoremonger ~ and not all that well wrapped when you got right down to it. They've got blood and DNA samples!
I would expect the Antichrist to have in his entourage of acolytes more than a few whoremongers, mad bombers, child molesters and so on. We can say this evening that we've found another one (after Bill Clinton) ~ but who's the boss?
It ain't Newt.
Neut is a religion. You see, Neut followers believe that Neut is just saying all that bullshiite to get the vote of the stupid people, but once elected, he will morph into a Conservative Crusader. Ya see, Laz, Neut's people know they ain't stupid, so they can appreciate what Neut is saying is not what he is really meaning. Do you follow?
Think Islam. It doesn't matter WTF you tell the Infidels, as long as they buy it and let you take over. When it comes to Neut, Laz, I am sorry to inform you that you are an Infidel.
