Runner's World reports: Olympic marathon champion and two-time Chicago Marathon winner Samuel Wanjiru of Kenya has died, apparently from a fall from a balcony at his home.
The news was reported to Race Results Weekly in a telephone call by Shadrack Biwott, the former University of Oregon Duck who had spoken to his brother, marathoner Duncan Kibet, in Kenya.

I heard that he’s the 4th cousin of some big shot in the White House. His mother still has the baby shower invitation received just before Obama was born. Really!

Wanjiru, 24, had been charged with attempted murder late last year by his wife, Triza Njeri, who claimed he had threatened her with an assault rifle, according to Kenya's Daily Nation newspaper. Wire service reports said Njeri dropped the charges against her husband in February. Wonder if the wife had friends in Chicago.

reading further into the article, it says he jumped. Sounds like a suicide. He was facing domestic violence charges for threatening his wife with a rifle.

This is the Olympian who shattered the Marathon by 3 minutes. Just the same, talk about the Darwin Awards. BTW, as usual I am having laughing fits over these freeper wise cracks.
