Man, this could happen to almost any guy! Some little twit makes an accusation like this and your life is ruined! This guy lost his job and his livelihood. And his reputation. And no matter that he was cleared of the charges, there will always be this cloud hanging over his head by some. He will never escape this accusation fully, even though it was compeltely false.

My wife and I were coming home from Ocean City NJ one night. We stopped at a rest stop on the Parkway-it was pretty late at night and we saw a small child wandering around with no parent in sight-in a rest stop on the Parkway. My first instinct was to help the little tyke find his mom but I did not dare go near him. We kept an eye on him from a distance until his dodo of a mom came to get him.

Sad. Very, sad.

This was my biggest nightmare when raising my children and the main reason why I never volunteered to be scout leader, Little League coach or anything similar during those times, even though I would have liked to have done so. I would just drop my kids off at those activities and pick them up later when they were over. Now that my kids are grown up, I want nothing further to do with kids and I stay away from them. (Guess I'll make an exception for any grandkids.)

All it takes is for one of these kids to accuse me of something I didn't do (to get back at me for some slight) and my life is immediately destroyed forever like this guy's was. Many kids realize they have this kind of power as well and that is why so many adults are afraid to discipline children or hold them accountable for anything.

The famous Fells Acre case occurred only a few miles from my home. In that case, an entire family was destroyed on the basis of accusations that were never proven. The Amiraults were convicted in court with no physical evidence whatsoever because any allegation of child abuse brings out the "witch hunt" factor in our society. They were all quietly released from prison many years after their innocence became obvious. This delay was on account of the fact that nobody involved in the original trial wanted to admit they made such a horrible mistake and no politician had the guts to vouch for their pardon.

I've seen something similar happen to someone close to me. He was innocent of course, but his name was dragged through the mud, he had to eat a whole bunch of legal fees, and never got as much as an apology for the false accusation.

It's a pretty risk-free way to eff with a man in a very serious way.

National hysteria which has its adherents here.
I wonder if the news of the initial accusation had a thread on FR.
You’d see what I mean.

This is typical under the Bloomberg Reign of Terror. A friend of mine was put into the Rubber Room on the basis of simply repeating a filthy phrase uttered by one of their students, to make sure they heard it correctly, as they have a hearing problem. They were later released due to a lack of anything to really charge them with.

I was given this year 5 classes of students which quite obviously have a much higher than normal percentage of troublemakers and dysfunctional students. When they do something which merits calling for a dean to come up, the assistant principal of security instead comes up. After hearing me tell of Roberto hitting LaKeisha, he then polls the class right in front of me, “Well, did Roberto hit LaKeisha?” The kids always side with their own, and say, “No, she’s lyin’, Roberto didn’t hit no LaKeisha.” Upon which he invariably turns to me and says, “See? It never happened!” So, the kids are learning that lying is OK and gets results. Great education. They take it further in the NYC schools, as per Bloomberg’s “50 Ways to Fire Your Teachers” handbook (it really exists). If you’re over 50, you’re too expensive and you know your rights. You’re dangerous to the Bloomberg machine, so you must go. Therefore, not only are you deliberately assigned problematic classes, the students therein are actively encouraged to write statements against you. To them, it’s great fun getting some revenge on a teacher who has the nerve to ask them to be quiet, put away their cellphone, or pay attention instead of talking. They never connect consequences, like your little game could get your teacher fired. They will actually tell you, “I’m gonna get you fired!” and then proceed to write up statements for the assistant principal of security about things that never happened or things you never said. And of course, these statements are well-coached by Mr. Security.

Meanwhile, the kids are running wild in the halls and classrooms, and teachers are afraid to say or do anything.

This is the horror which is going on now during Bloomberg’s Reign of Terror for dedicated conscientious teachers like me. You actually shake like a leaf upon entering your building in the morning, not knowing what NEW letter you will find in your mail slot alleging of some terrible thing you did which “made the student feel nervous or afraid”.

Why should it cost $125,000 to defend yourself?

Who are the real predators here?

I’d like to see WSJ’s Dorothy Rabinowitz take on this story.

I worked in a home office a few years ago; once the Mom mentioned that she wanted to go shopping and that the two girls (roughly 13 and 9) “wouldn’t bother me”.......I quashed that request real quick and set down the new rule of the office.

The guy has some nerve, defending himself against the accusations of an innocent child.

Child molestation is something you are guilty of by accusation.

Any attempt to defend yourself is simply proof of guilt.

Middle school mean kids are the worst. They are smart enough to hatch a plot against an enemy and stupid enough to not realize the full weight of what they are doing.

We had a neighbor whose truant daughter called the police and lied saying he was beating her. They stormed the house and she had her own dad arrested because he grounded her for skipping school and made her furious.

Worse, this was Mass. and they introduced a new requirement of registration for gun owners this dad had not met yet. So the cops got him on that! I wonder if he ever forgave that little skag.

Men are easy prey in today’s society. When the dollar crashes and the government fails, and women lose their special state sanctioned status, don’t worry ladies, most of us will forget how you tried to destroy us for the last 40 years. At least then, women will once again see the value of a good man.

look......specifically in this case, he was found not guilty...that does not mean the girl lied...did she recant?....I found no evidence of that in the article....

our justice system is based on evidence in a court of law...like the jurors stated...there was no evidence....

not to reflect on this case because it was pretty weak, but the jurors thought there was no "evidence" in the ojsimpson trial either....yet most people don't think he was "vindicated"...

I have been asked to teach in several areas and I have refused it. I cannot bring myself to put me and my family in harm’s way through false allegations of sexual harassment.

I’m an excellent teacher and have taught very complex subjects to adults, but teaching children is out. Simply no way I’m going to do it.

I have seen friends destroyed by false allegations and I will not allow it to happen to me and my family.

If I were a different person, perhaps I wolud go into teaching, keep my nose squeaky clean and if the allegations came I would sue everyone involved, parents, school system, cops, social workers and then retire to Maritinique.

But I am not that kind kind of guy.
