I don’t know what you are talking about. I was happy with the status quo in Egypt. And I agree with you about democracy in the Middle East, having read Montesquieu long ago.

The Bush Administration’s long term strategy to eliminate terror was to “drain the swamp” of radicalism in the Middle East through such actions as removing Saddam as the dictator of Iraq and introducing democracy. Heck his 2nd inaugural speech was replete with that silliness.

Bad idea then and bad idea now. End result was and is a heightening of Iranian influence throughout the Middle East as well as the loss of American power. Lambast Obama all you want but some of us on FR have long memories and will not give Dubya a pass.
