And just to be clear, I do not consider Criminal Justice a “garbage degree”. I leave that label for other “degrees” such as “Journalism”, “Communications”, “Social Work”, “Multi-media” ANY of the “Liberal Arts”, “Basket Weaving” and so on.
And I agree, it’s not what you do in college, it’s what you do in life.
A hard worker is a hard worker, and while the job market is tough for recent grads, I also know that there are jobs available for those willing to do work that they consider beneath them. I did it because I had to do it to save money before starting my ‘career’, so to speak. Reading of these kids going to live back home just makes me sad for our future as a country. It will take people like your son to help lead the private sector, and being under 40, I'm trying to do my own part.
