SS and Medicare were doomed from the start, just like every other government program. Every government program costs more than promised, provides less than promised, and invites corruption and fraud. Government couldn’t manage a 2-car funeral.
There are people who swear that there is an actual Trust Fund. They are called “Trusters”.
