Of course it doesn't help that again the incompetent NY GOP is again cannabilizing itself with a bunch of sore loser infighting compliments of this Bellva character who can't just bow out like a man when he loses and has to instead help Democrats win a seat they have no business holding. When will Republicans in NY State grab a clue and stop acting like babies?
Some conservative group ( Rove, are you paying attention??) needs to identify about a dozen or so Dem districts..say Dem +4 or so...with at least 15-20% black voters. Then find a black candidate in each of those districts, and run him or her as in Independent, under the “Reparations Party” standard. Guarantee we pick up at least half those districts..
I had thought that Davis was only pulling 25% because many conservatives/tea party folks didn't realize he was a fake tea party candidate. Unfortunately, this article (and some additional research) seems to suggest that because tea party favorite Bellavia did not get the nomination, he was going to run 3rd party anyway. When he didn't get on the ballot as a Federalist candidate he threw his support behind Davis knowing full well who and what he is.
So unless I am wrong, the root of the problem here is we have a disgruntled Tea Party Republican who didn't get the nomination and took his proverbial ball and went home. We are going to get clobbered from here until eternity if "moderates" and Tea Party candidates alike can't accept losing nominations and instead insist on running 3rd party or endorsing Democrats or Democrat stalking horses. The Democrats are going to pretty much everywhere we split our vote. The time for these fights are during the nomination period (whether the nominee is selected by vote or in this case the Republican committee).
I never cease to be amazed at the abject stupidity of Republicans. I mean just how many times do the RATs get to run the Fake Tea Party Scam before they figure it out! It would seem, given the evidence, that the first thing they would do is make it impossible for a RAT to claim to be from the “tea party” and sew up the name legally. But then, they are Republicans and stupid is as stupid does!
Is not every conservative voter up there in that district already aware of this Fake? If not, why not?
That is a great idea.
And in non minority districts we should be fielding Green and Progressive party candidates to split the Dem vote.
It is pretty clear that some on the right will vote for anything with a Tea Party label after their name (whether they know who the candidate is or not). The Democrats started taking advantage of this in 2010 with limited success, but I expect them to field fake Tea Party candidates all over the place in 2012. Hell, if the losers in our own primaries can’t suck it up and vote for the nominee and instead endorse the fake Tea Party candidate the left is going to have a field day.
Might have been better if the TEA Party would named something else like the TEA Foundation or TEA America. It is now known as a "party" and many lower information voters or people who think they are making a statement will vote for anything with TEA Party after their name. It is going to be a real problem.
Sadly, according to this article, many of the supposed conservatives voting for Davis are doing so at the prompting of Bellavia who endorsed him. Bellavia was apparently the TEA party favorite and it would seem many of them can't get over the fact that Corwin got the nod instead of him. This sounds more and more like a case of many good conservatives throwing a tantrum and casting a protest vote.
What is that red stuff?
Actually, what is the green stuff, too?
Red stuff is chocolate.
Green stuff (symbolizes the end of the FReepathon when we hit green — the goal) looks a lot like some vile concoction of creme de menthe and a martini, maybe??? [shudder]
It’s hangover juice, but it’s GREEN!
LOL! Thanks - I was thinking “creme de menthe and bacon bits”?
(huge freaking shudder...)
And considering I don’t drink any alcohol and am a vegetarian - yikes!!
I could lick the chocolate off, at least.
:-)
LOL!
Absinthe?
This whole scenario would seem to suggest that most conservative voters are as lazy and uninformed as we say liberals are. If they can’t figure out the person they are voting for is a fraud then they are ignorant and stupid.
when will our own freepers get a clue?....we have people on here who still want to destroy pub candidates and have third party candidates that have NO chance to win..
Yup, you see some of that every election cycle. Some, otherwise perfectly good, conservatives are simply determined to waste their vote on 3rd party candidates with no chance to win. All they accomplish is to help socialist/liberal Democrats win elections. These dunderheads will scream and complain that "moderates" and RINO's won't adequately support solid conservative candidates, yet will themselves walk away from the Republicans and vote for 3rd party schlubs if the nominee is not pure enough. It looks like some of that very same thing is going on NY 26 - a candidate and his supporters all butt hurt they didn't get the nomination so instead of supporting the actual nominee they go and throw their support behind a fake tea party candidate in order to make some sort of statement.
Oh boy.
1)GOP representative resigned over dumb online photos and emails, so special election needed.
2)Bellavia lost GOP primary to Corwin.
3)Bellavia endorsed wolf-in-sheep's clothing "Tea Party" Davis, who loves Pelosi.
According to WSJ, the Ryan plan is not the "main explanation" for Dems threatening to take away this GOP seat, but defending the Ryan plan is going to take some skill and commitment, and if Corwin makes any gaffes defending it, the NYT will be all over her. And if Corwin loses, Dems will be crowing all over the media about this election having "national" significance.
Correction: There was no GOP primary. The GOP picked Corwin over Bellavia.
There was no time for a full primary. And the fact that Bellavia enthusiastically endorsed a fake Tea Party candidate who is obviously really a Democrat is a pretty good indication the GOP was correct to nominate Corwin instead of him.
