Getting to Yes for Mitch and Cheri Daniels (If he runs, Gov. Daniels wants Condi Rice to be his VP)

INDIANAPOLIS -- When the Indiana Republican Party found itself in a bind this spring, unable to lock down a high-profile keynote speaker for its big annual fundraising dinner, it was Gov. Mitch Daniels himself who came up with the solution: He'd get his wife, Cheri, to do it.

It was a bold move, considering that she had never given a high-profile speech before and generally has been reluctant to step onto the political stage. At the same time, her husband has been pondering a 2012 presidential bid (pondering it for the better part of 18 months, in fact) and the potential candidate himself has hinted that Cheri's the one person who could stop him -- because she's been described as uncomfortable about the intrusion such a campaign would have on their lives.

In recent months, though, Cheri Daniels has been upping her appearances, and at the meticulously timed and well-choreographed dinner before a record audience of 1,100 on Thursday evening, she strode onto the stage in fire-engine red, hiding no more.

SNIP SNIP

"We are a party of ideas, but more importantly a party that acts on ideas," he said, adding that in the Hoosier State, there were no forgotten towns or inner cities that are too bleak.

He has obviously given some thought to the area beyond Indiana's borders, too.

Daniels accepted an invitation from those 55 students to meet at a spacious bar several blocks away after the event; he sipped Woodford Reserve bourbon as he asked them about their own lives and families. In return, they asked him who he might like to tap as his vice presidential nominee if he runs.

Hypothetically, he told them, he'd like to pick Condoleeza Rice.

Can you support Daniels knowing he has a long relationship with James Zogby and AAI going back 25 years? Mitch Daniels honored by AAI

I was simply stating a fact.

I don't support Daniels.

No, I was only at Stanford when she was hired with a degree from a school that wouldn’t have gotten a second look if she weren’t a twofer. Subsequently, she became Provost for no particular reason other than the fact she is black. But what would I know? Her “accomplishments” were essentially given to her. Not all that different form Hillary in that respect.

I wouldn’t say denying per se, as much as not understanding what that means with regard to how Daniels plans to run and position himself (or how people will view it anyway).

I don’t think it’s any of our business, but I’m certain it will be brought up.

It probably won't be brought up in the primaries very much if at all. Anyone who doesn't think it will be brought up repeatedly by the MSM and late night comedians if he gained the nomination is daft.

It's a huge problem.

“It does not matter if Daniels is allegedly Christian. He is still a Muslim panderer. Can you support Daniels knowing he has a long relationship with James Zogby and AAI going back 25 years?”

Daniels, Zogby and most Americans of Arab descent like them are Christians-Maronite Catholics in this case.

In case you hadn’t noticed, Christians are under attack by muslims in Egypt right now.

If you review Daniels entire resume, you can’t help but be impressed.

Of course if your ammo is limited to the shallow claim he is a closeted muslim, good luck.

Over my lifetime I have known Jews, Christians, Zoroastrians from Arab lands and Iran, and they are our allies, not our enemies.

“Nothing in this president’s methods suggests this president is other than a defender of America’s interests,” Rice told an audience that included presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett.

But you’ve got to admit, the MSM and the comedy channel will be sure to play this short thing for all it’s worth. The “young and dumb” vote will not be persuaded by logic and will only view the presidential race the same way they view a vote for prom king. The fact that he is short make the race more of a freak show spectacle that will pique the interest of the drones. Putting in a line here in there will not erase the bizarre images we will see on magazine covers and on the internet comparing Daniels to “random” tall folks that magically appear next to him.

Ross Perot is about the same height as Mitch Daniels. Maybe my memory is shot, but I don’t recall any potshots taken at his height (even though both candidates he was running against were 6’2”). He was ridiculed for many other things, but not his height IIRC.

“Ross Perot is about the same height as Mitch Daniels.”

That only adds to my argument. The MSM and Leftists gave Perot a pass on his height and quirky personality because they needed him to take away Republican and conservative votes from Bush senior. If Daniels were a Leftist running in 0bama’s position, any attack on a short person would be considered as heightism and those making the charge would be treated like racists. Of course, because the Leftists are consummate hypocrites, it’s OK and even fun for the MSM to attack a short Republican. And if Daniels is the Republican candidate, you will hear over and again the fact that the taller person generally (but not always) wins the presidential election.
