INDIANAPOLIS -- When the Indiana Republican Party found itself in a bind this spring, unable to lock down a high-profile keynote speaker for its big annual fundraising dinner, it was Gov. Mitch Daniels himself who came up with the solution: He'd get his wife, Cheri, to do it.
It was a bold move, considering that she had never given a high-profile speech before and generally has been reluctant to step onto the political stage. At the same time, her husband has been pondering a 2012 presidential bid (pondering it for the better part of 18 months, in fact) and the potential candidate himself has hinted that Cheri's the one person who could stop him -- because she's been described as uncomfortable about the intrusion such a campaign would have on their lives.
In recent months, though, Cheri Daniels has been upping her appearances, and at the meticulously timed and well-choreographed dinner before a record audience of 1,100 on Thursday evening, she strode onto the stage in fire-engine red, hiding no more.

"We are a party of ideas, but more importantly a party that acts on ideas," he said, adding that in the Hoosier State, there were no forgotten towns or inner cities that are too bleak.
He has obviously given some thought to the area beyond Indiana's borders, too.
Daniels accepted an invitation from those 55 students to meet at a spacious bar several blocks away after the event; he sipped Woodford Reserve bourbon as he asked them about their own lives and families. In return, they asked him who he might like to tap as his vice presidential nominee if he runs.
Hypothetically, he told them, he'd like to pick Condoleeza Rice.

Looks like you missed pretty much everything about Condi.
Such as, for example, the fact that her impressive national security and foreign policy credentials fill in a perceived gap in Daniels' resume.
And she's brilliant, accomplished, well-spoken, and all of that.
But other than those, you missed nothing.
Daniels acts like a rookie. He hasn’t learned you don’t have to box yourself in by answering every stupid hypo some clown puts to you.
Who asked for Rice to be a heart beat away?
Me too. I am tired of being forced and told who to vote for. No more RINOS.
Allen West should be the nominee.

Daniels would like to tap Condoleeza Rice?
The recent interview Condi did with Lawrence O'Donnell was anything but mediocre. She won on EVERY point.
Check it out.

Count me out with Daniels and Rice.
Rice is pro-abortion. Ugh. No way.
allen west is a Rino too. look at his promises versus his votes since he has been elected and became a pawn of lobbyists.
Will she run on her credentials? If so, what were her accomplishments beside being a cabinet member?
I see her as a once high profile govt. leader who actually didn't do much of substance.
This is about where they want us. No hope of curing anything. Continue electing nothing but crooks, cheats and liars.
“Daniels and the two other students were initially charged with possession of marijuana, LSD and prescription drugs without a prescription and with maintaining a common nuisance by maintaining a place for the sale of narcotics.
Smoking and drugs stunted his growth. This is what the drones and MSM will repeat. Great fodder for the comedy channel. SNL is already working on a skit.
Oh boy...goofy wants a pro choice vp
At least she’s the right color

I really agree with your comments regarding condis poor track record on foreign policy. I am almost fininshed reading Rumsfeld’s book. It is a very candidily written book and Rummey does not have a favorable opinion of Condi in either of her rolls as National security and even less as Sec of State. He even stated at one point in the book that she “could have been a great sec of state, but makes no bones in pointing out her poor management style.I also think that she did not serve President Bush well as his close adviser. The Bush’s are very loyal sometimes to a fault. I am not sure about Mitch Daniels. He might have some baggage being that he was the budget management director for Bush in the first term. I don’t have any criticism for how he preformed, having seen him many times before the US Senate in appropriations committee hearings. However the dems could try to hang the finacial mess that the “one” often refers to to remind everyone what a mess he inherited from Bush. Rush is on Mitch Daniels case everyday. I cannot figure out why, but it has been one of his most talked about topics for the past week.
That would explain his two shoe boxes filled with it?
Intelligent, experienced, gutsy and can out debate virtually anyone the left could ever put up including zero
condi Rice? Why flame up the Iraq war again?
Globalist Condi Rice was as disaster for this country.
Why can’t we get rid of these globalists? They’ve had their chance, done their harm, but yet they keep getting dredged up for more mayhem. Why is that?
