Very nice! I always wanted to get a pilots license but never had the time or money at the same time. (Had the money but no time, had the time but no money) So I took up hanggliding and flew for 25 years and 1600+ logged hours.
Hit 50, got married, now I choose R/C model planes instead.
The D-18 is another favorite, I have a 7 foot span kit of one in my “to-build” pile... I’ll get to it one of these days. I plan to do it up in Frank Talman’s Beech colors in the movie, “Its a Mad, Mad, Mad... Mad World”. I have a V-35 kit that will be in the same colors. (It’s in the movie as well)
I can relate...but I went the reverse ...quit R/C airplanes to focus on full size...matter of fact I have a 1/4 scale Sig Cub on floats with a Saito 120 4-stroke for sale if you know anyone interested..:oP
Remember that hilarious bit in the Beech when Jim Backus went in the back to make an Old Fashioned at the bar...and Buddy Hackett asked "what if something goes wrong?"...Jim replied: "what could go wrong with an Old Fashioned?"...LOLOL!!! :oP
(You know they totaled that Beech flying it through that billboard?)
