I was surprised to discover a connection between rap music and Black Nationalism of the ‘60’s and ‘70’s. Tupac Shakur’s mother and father were both members of the Black Panthers. So was his aunt, Atta Shakur, who is the woman convicted of killing a policeman who was lionized in Common’s poem.

I looked up the lyrics to the song he wrote about Assata Shuker. It makes a lot of strange accusations about her time in prison and the Aryan race. I think he is a racist . But since its all the rage to rage against whitey they let it pass.
