I've supported an alternative clinic called “Life Way.” They take in pregnant teens. The clients can earn “points” by studying books on parenting and scripture. They also earn points through pursuing a High School diploma. They can exchange points for baby items (bottles, cribs, clothes, diapers, etc...). These items are donated by people like me.

You seemed to have missed the part where God hates sin but loves the sinner. You also seem to dismiss the fact that God would have all saved if only they would accept His gift of salvation.

If we were to follow your line of thinking, we would gather at the doors of the clinics and joyfully stone the foolish kids who go there to kill their unborn children (some of these are as young as thirteen) and bask in our own self righteousness.

So, what's it like being a member of the Phelps cult?

You’re right, of course. These mothers just lie there kicking and screaming while some evil madman doctor rips the living child from their womb.

No, we ought not to stone them as they exit the clinic. Rather, we should celebrate their release from the clutches of these monsters who have dragged them there against their will. We should greet them with rose petals and hero’s medals for having endured so valiantly the ordeal forced upon them. They have been robbed of the children they so dearly loved and longed to give birth to, and in their innocent victimhood deserve nothing less than our every consolation and comfort.

And as for those devilish “doctors”...well actually they’re not so bad either. After all, “God hates sin but loves the sinner,” and “would have all saved if only they would accept His gift of salvation.” And as you explained so irrefutably, this can mean only one thing - that they shouldn’t have to suffer any consequences or punishment for what they’ve done.

In fact, your impeccable reasoning and wisdom have just enlightened the entire world on the question of consequences and punishment. No doubt we’ll all rejoice as prisons are thrown open and we welcome home those who’ve been locked away unjustly. After that, we can begin making amends for all who have suffered as a result of our misunderstanding God’s love for sinners, which we now understand means “nobody suffers consequences.”

God, too, can repeal His natural law, now that you’ve explained to Him that loving sinners means He doesn’t have to punish them like He always has. And all those warnings about reaping what we sow? Well, I’m sure you’ll be able to edit the Bible and bring it up to date for us.

Sheesh. I’ve never heard of a church teaching such nonsense. Which one do you go to?
