Who knows? Haas is a very common name amongst the Amish, and I didn’t think there were many Amish in Louisiana (could be wrong).

There is a funny scene about that name in the movie “Witness”.

There was an early enclave of Germans in Louisiana’s colonial history, thus the town of Des Allemands in 1721. This guy’s behavior is totally out of synch with Louisiana’s culture though. He is from somewhere else, or is infected with Colin Powell’s vaunted “urban values”.
