“A ‘double tap’ is two separate shots. One to the chest and one to the head, in that order. The reason for this is the cheat shot is to at minimum stun the target. The second is to ensure the target is dead.”
A double tap is 2 quick rounds to the head or the chest, not one to each.

Why do I think I wouldn’t be able to own one of those in MA?

There is no gas piston the G3/HK91 series.
None of the propellant gas is used to power the operating system of those rifles.
And the 416's gas piston is nothing more than an updated AR180, so certainly not brand new.

lol, pretty typical of FR gun threads.

A 'double tap' is two separate shots.Should have stopped there

I guess when it is transiting the orbital lobe, .223 is plenty big enough.

IDK, but looking at a picture of one is a felony in California and a misdemeanor in NY.

“Purely new”?
Is uses the AR-180 system (a close variant) that’s been out there for decades. It uses and AR-type lower and upper receiver.

Sorry, didn’t mean to reference the G3.
Got hooked around the 416.
I corrected myself by referenceing the AR180 in later posts.

No, the Mini-14’s inaccuracy comes from other sources, like barrel whip. Ruger recently and finally addressed the issue with the new 580-series (IIRC) Mini14.

10 year minimum prison sentence, right?
You should consider moving south. We need more conservative Yankees to come here seeking refuge, because God knows the 'progressive' moonbats have been a swarming infestation down this way for some time now.
They move down here from their corrupt, unliveable, democrat-controlled northern cities and instead of adapting themselves to our way of life, they immediately start trying to turn our counties and towns in to clones of the socialist he11-holes from which they escaped.
Liberalism is one WEIRD afflication...

I own a HK-91 (7.62 Nato) and they both use the same gas operations system.
The 91 (G3) is roller-locked, not gas operated.

Their gas system routes past the cartridge in the chamber and blows the cartridge clear of the magazine.
Actually, the recoiling bolt extracts the case (not cartridge) from the chamber, and the ejector kicks it clear of the receiver (not magazine).
The fluted chamber and bypassing gas does help the extraction.

I am in MA, not VT. Long story with the handle, but I am firmly implanted in Western MA next to the shooting gallery that is Springfield.
