Let the parasite entitlement class riot.

Good excuse for the productive citizenry to fight back and rid society of them.

I have also read that ideas of the seizing of the pension plans, IRA’s, 401k and 403b accounts will also result in no payouts to a small limited payout to surviving family members when you die. You want to pass on hard earned retirement savings to your children? Forget about it.

This is one line, that if (more like when) they choose to cross, will get a response that would make Thomas Jefferson proud.

North Korea, Cuba, Zimbabwe etc. survive somehow but I suspect it’s because they are able to extort money from functioning economies. It would pretty heartless to see what would happen to a pure communist model in isolation.

So much for the lame advice of government and economic "pundits."

We have heard sermons about Social Security never being intended to provide complete retirement financial security.

A private retirement fund is an absolute necessity!

Yeah...
Right.

As a further exciting possibility, look to government to confiscate gold.

Again.

Respond now or lose everything.
(I don't own gold, so I couldn't care less.)

They will take everything they can find from you before they let that happen.

They seem unaware of the certain consequences to themselves.
Whoever "they" are.

Politicians have made promises to create that utopia. And people were foolish enough to believe and trust them.

Only the parasite class.
The other half is busy buying emergency stores and ammunition...

***In the US, public pensions have been raided for years, Congress routinely ‘borrows’ from Social Security to make up budget shortfalls. ****

what? Don’t you trust your government to keep its promises?

Look at what was said in 1964 about Social Security!

http://www.ssa.gov/history/ssa/usa1964-2.html

Self-Supporting

“The program is designed so that contributions plus interest on the investments of the social security trust funds will be sufficient to meet all of the costs of benefits and administration, now and into the indefinite future—without any subsidy from the general funds of the Government. Both the Congress and the Executive Branch, regardless of political party in power, have scrupulously provided in advance for full financing of all liberalizations in the program.”

An HERE is where your money goes! Read and weep!

You're right - with QE2 they don't have to change laws to steal citizen's money. Elite liberals make the money worthless - skimming the value for their pet projects.

If they take mine, they had better be prepared to die for I will go to war over this.

Just whom do you propose to shoot first (because that's what a war with deaths will entails)?... The little old lady entering data at the Social Security Office? The GS-3 drone processing the credit cards at the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Office (food stamps)? That nice, pleasant fellow manning the local US Forest Service desk handing out trail literature to campers? Or the clerk processing student aid at the Tuition Assistance desk at your local community college?

Just where do you start, and how?

What makes anybody think the fiends actually perpetrating this outrage are going to just stand around and let you organize an armed force against their potent and entrenched empires?

To protect themselves, they have erected strong security systems and troops of DOJ lawyers and federal judges and strong prisons plus armed guards at every level, the FBI/BATFE/Marshal Service/Secret Service/etc. and legions of various trigger happy SWAT teams now embedded in most federal agencies - and ultimately the US Army and Marines. At the first hint of any armed resistance all they need is to pick up a phone and the hammer is going to come down - hard. After all, they have the "law" on their side. They also have their own local legions of supporters on the streets who look forward to the opportunity to do "whatever it takes" (remember Wisconsin?) to win.

Remember who has ended up running this government? This is whom we have allowed into office and now have given the reins of nearly absolute power!

We have created a monster. It is now getting very, very hungry and desperate and long ago left behind such anachronisms as the "Constitution" and concepts of "right and wrong".

It is not the Chinese bankers who should be worried. It should be We The People...!

Realistically, how do we get our country back without us all descending into fire and blood - or is this what it will ultimately require (as you imply)?

Besides, IF someone wants to go after “them” IF they steal their hard earned money to pay off union pensions, they would be wise NOT to say WHO they would go after.

Yeah, I've seen that and it makes a lot of sense.

I guess my point is, individual frustration is one thing but effective action is another. In most cases, individual action will only get you taken off the board or killed by the system.

Effective and widespread corporate action is the key and usually has a flash point or trigger which throws things over the edge after a long period of near boil - like Lexington/Concord, Ft Sumter, the Lusitania, Pearl Harbor, or the Gulf of Tonkin attack. To happen effectively, things usually need a sea change event to gain steam and a historical momentum to rectify it. Sort of like we thought 9/11 was, but as it turned out it really wasn't. We are no longer serious about that problem.

But as these seminal events illustrate, the real trigger is usually something quite unexpected after the fields had been prepared for years awaiting the flash point.

I've been watching this country get destroyed for the last 50 years. I KNOW who the enemy is.

"...but it’s the generation of retirees who utterly refused to address the problems that led up to this who are most at fault for their own problems. They thought they could borrow their way into prosperity when all they were doing was spending *MY* retirement savings in advance."

Be careful just WHO you are blaming this situation on. Not all in my generation "refused to address the problems" .... CONGRESS refused to address the problems. It was NOT everyone in my generation "borrowing their way into prosperity" ... many of us didn't borrow anything, CONGRESS did. I didn't "spend your retirement savings in advance" .... CONGRESS did. And I have never belonged to the AARP!

I'll forgive you for unfairly placing the blame because I know you are hurting just as much as the rest of us. That prosperity you spoke of probably would have continued if Reagon's economic policies had continued and liberals had not been intent on destroying America. I know you are worried about YOUR retirement..... but so are the rest of us. We are all in this together, Megan. If we start placing the blame on each other instead of squarely on CONGRESS and the GOVERNMENT, then the Government will have won and be damned to us citizens.

I addressed my original post to you because you spoke of buying gold and silver as a hedge against the current situation.... and I was trying to point out that converting retirement savings to gold and silver is not a good option for most retirees. You said that you are "too busy worrying about yourself" to care about other people. (your words not mine). Is that really true? If so then you really are in trouble, and not just financially.

Exactly - an entire population cannot be held responsible for the transgressions of the ruling class.

I am busy worrying about myself and my family. We’ve got a government that’s out of control no matter who’s in charge, bankers more or less running things for their own benefit, and the few actual conservatives speaking any sense being derided as ‘crackpots’ and etc. by the GOP (never mind the Democrats).
It’s sad that people who organized their retirement around interest income from CD’s are hurting but for them to be doing well that’d mean other people would be miserable paying higher interest rates to the banks. Again, I really don’t feel sorry for people who are hurting because other people aren’t paying 20% on their mortgages like they did thirty years ago.
It’s also sad that some people are dependent on Social Security because it was meant to be a supplement and not a full pension.
Now we get to the point of this article and that is the fact that people who planned well are now being penalized in order to subsidize those who didn’t.

And I am happy that my family already planned in such a way that our most important assets are invisible to the people who’d seize them if they could. My advice still stands that anyone who can should buy a few silver or gold coins *just in case* they need them.

Because if they don’t and they come around asking for the silver and gold we put away for a rainy day they’ll find out we;re also well stocked on lead, too.

“Exactly - an entire population cannot be held responsible for the transgressions of the ruling class.”

Sure they can...and will. Bear in mind that Germany only finished paying World War One reparations this last year and the fact of the matter is that generations unborn are held to account for the acts of the ruling class.
