OCALA - A former restaurant owner and chef was arrested Friday for refusal to pay or file tax return, theft of sales tax and failure to file six consecutive sales tax returns.
Loring W. Felix, 52, was picked up by Sheriff's Deputy Brian Haworth at 2811 S.W. 19th Court at 7 a.m. He was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was booked in.
The warrant was signed by Judge Willard Pope on Monday. Bond for the charges was $7,500.
Felix's Restaurant had been a fixture at 917 E. Silver Springs Blvd. for close to a decade before closing last year due to the economic downturn.
Jail records indicate Felix was released Friday just after 1 p.m.
Misspelling in the title is as found.
What misspelling?

I wonder how much the anticipated sales tax loss is vs the cost of multiple contacts for failure to file the return, the paperwork and administration to get a criminal case started, the time to get the warrant signed and served, the cost of arresting, transporting, processing, and then eventually releasing him, and the eventual court disposition of the case...I have to imagine that the $7,500 bond was the Franchise Tax Board’s estimation of the gross owed sales taxes, and that the costs for everything here is far in excess of the $7,500 owed.
Me thinks it would have simply been a whole lot easier waiting until he started another business and then note the old taxes owed and demand payment before issuing a new resale permit.
What? There’s a problem with culling news stories about a particular profession in an attempt to besmirch all members of said profession?

Kids' TV chef kills Easter bunny
Sarah Wiener, Germany's answer to Delia Smith, reduced some 12 to 15-year-olds to tears as the cute animals were stunned with an electric shock before having their throats cut. Children were then asked to help skin the animals for TV show Sarah And The Kitchen Children. 'Children should know where their food comes from,' said Ms Wiener. Metro.co.uk
Yawn, weaksauce. Get back to me when chefs have great legal authority which they can abuse.
My point was to show that any group can just as easily be vilified. Posting a nightly collection of criminal cops or chefs still only proves that a vast minority are criminal.
A while ago I started posting positive news about law enforcement as a counterpoint to the nightly ACAB posts. I received many supportive Freepmails, but I also received the most strange messages from someone upset that I would post a complimentary article. Apparently, that Freeper's had a beef with their local police force.
How did you grow to hate police so much?
so much easier to go after busted broke business owners than big corporations I suppose
