“The 5.2 magnitude earthquake was felt across the Murcia region, where hundreds of British expatriate live, from Alicante to Malaga and as far away as Madrid.”

I chatted with my friend in Málaga earlier...she told me it was in Murcia.

Hiya, Scanian.

Thanks for the report.

Can’t say that I know much about the region, but I hope everyone you know there is well.

Interesting that expats would congregate in Murcia. That used to be kind of a Sad Sack place. I suppose times have changed (I’m thinking Franco era)but depending on the extent of the damage hard times might be back again.

Well,

No damages on that coast except in my former honey’s heart.

I really stepped in it...just last night she broke up with her live-in of 7 years. The SOB literally tried to toss her in the street! He was “bored,” she said, and had a tryst set up in Paris with some British woman. A real keyboard Casanova and Prince Valiant of Viagra, that one.

Sorry about the tears, Marisa. She’s built like Wonder Woman and has waited on “Mats” hand and foot for years so what the hell is the matter with him? At 63, he’s past the “mid-life crisis” stage. He’s a Swede from Stockholm. Characteristic of the type, I’d say.

And here I was worried about earthquakes.

An earthquake of a different sort for her, I reckon. Sorry your friend is hurting, Scanian, and sorry for the hurt you carry for her. You are a friend, indeed.

My Best to You,

SC

Say, Mr. Engineer, this is weird. In LA a 6 on the Richter Scale isn’t enough to interrupt Happy Hour. How come this apocalyptic damage? Spain is full of really old buildings that look pretty darn good!

There is a Professor in Italy who was arrested for spreading panic by predicting their last big one about a week before it hit. Of course he's on the loose again.

His method involves measuring escaping Radon Gas along fault lines and calculating the rate of change. Italy had a spate of landscape changers around the 9 level at the turn of the 19th century, complete with devastating tsunamis. The Professor is worried that this will happen again as it appears to be about a 2-3-century cycle!

How come this apocalyptic damage?

Who said apocalyptic? You don't have to be an engineer to figure it out. The quake was less than 1 click deep and less than 1 click from the center of Lorca. Lorca construction methods are very different than LA. Go to the links and look at the pictures. Falling bricks and stones can ruin your day.

You didn't even try to figure it out did you?
