Unless there is more to this story than is being told, I gotta say “If you point an AR-15 at me, I’m taking you down.” We can’t have ROE here like we do with our military. That’s how our guys die in the Middle East.

WRONG!
The military are at WAR with our ENEMIES and should have wide discretion to wage the war. LEOs are enforcing law against citizens, who have RIGHTS, including the presumption of innocence.
LEOs must take every possible step to preserve the life of the presumptively innocent citizen (in this case a US Marine Corps. veteran).
In a nation where people have and exercise the right to bear arms in defense of their homes and families, breaking down someone's door is a potentially lethal proposition.
The only way it can be made "safe" for the officers is to insure that nobody in the home will attempt to defend it and the occupants with lethal force, and you can't do that and leave the 2A intact.

Considering he had children in the house he may have been reluctant to open up on the intruders.
Being a combat vet of Iraq means Guerrera would be accostomed to id-ing a threat before opening fire. Many Iraqis carrying weapons are plain clothes policemen, neighborhood security patrols, etc. Our troops couldn’t just open up on anyone they saw carrying a weapon.

That is part of the problem they think they are the military. They are civilians and should act that way. No knock and SWAT should be outlawed except in extreme circumstances. Please don’t tell me how dangerous the job is the statistics don’t show that.
