And sadly, they represent the overwhelming majority of the American people.
I disagree, Sarge. Although I believe that a majority of Americans are ignorant of our nation's proud history and apathetic about politics, easily fooled by slogans and speeches, I don't think the 'overwhelming majority' of Americans actually hate their country. When they see some famous, multi-millionaire entertainer spouting anti-American BS or read some allegedly brilliant writer claiming that we should be ashamed of our country, they often buy into it, especially if they're in college, surrounded by pointy-headed professors with doctorates telling them America stinks and peers celebrating anything perverse, including anti-Americanism. None of this is good for our national psyche but I simply don't believe that Americans, at their core, hate their country. American's collective apathy and susceptibility to socialists masquerading as 'liberal' is a huge problem, but I don't believe deep-seated anti-Americanism is at it's core.
My guess is that there are around 100 million good patriotic faithful Americans out of the 300 million here. It does seem that for decades the liberal mentality has overwhelmed America in schools, govt, economic teachings, even many churches and places of worship. Liberals seem to even support an ethos, ideology, a religion that opposes American, Christian , Judeo values and still call themselves=patriotic. There are a few patriots from the old Reagan Dem groupings. Malcolm Mugger. once said, ‘one can be a liberal. One can be a Christian. But one cannot be both a Christian and a liberal.’ Reading, viewing, looking, discerning life for some 72 yrs., I tend to believe him. And politically, they are impossible to trust.
