of why I am no longer a Catholic.

sure you are, you may not be a good Catholic, but you are a Catholic nevertheless.. It is very hard to deny the church that Christ, Himself, established and live with yourself. He died for you and you reject Him.....pathetic

I find these Catholic vote Democrat claims interesting. I attended 16 years of Catholic schools and am active in my parish as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and a Bible study class facilitator and student.

All of my Catholic college friends except for one are conservative Republicans. All of our Catholic friends in our parish except for one are a conservative Republicans. The one Democrat gets trounced any time she brings up her liberal thinking during our Bible study class. The folks who sit in the pews near us at Mass are all conservative. Where are these Democrat voting Catholics?

I call them “Chreasters”.

They come on Christmas Midnight Mass and Easter Sunday morning, and that's it. They never go to Confession.

And they think they're good Catholics.

now, that the hierarchy of the Church and the Bishops allow the likes of Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, etc to receive Communinion.... Well that just encourages the Chreasters to think they're all right and damns all of their souls, which is a travesty. I hope the Church will abandon the desire to be liked in this country rather than the True Work of the Church which is to follow the Lord.

For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul? --Our Lord, Jesus the Christ, (Matthew 16:26)

Perhaps it is area and perhaps it is ethnicity. Being Irish-Catholic, I am the ONLY one in my extended family that has voted Republican. Most assumed that I was going through a “phase” similar to getting spiked hair or wearing odd looking clothes. At my parish, you can tell by the cars and simply knowing people. Granted, I live in Maryland but a huge amount of bumper stickers have pro-Democratic candidates. One of our neighbors is the lead administrator of CCD at a local parish. She, too, is a huge Democratic supporter yet she also demonstrates outside of abortion clinics.
