“Last week, several of my friends asked me if I believed that bin Laden was really dead. The questions weren’t surprising, considering the mass of misinformation and conflicting accounts of bin Laden’s death...”

I was talking to some A’stan/Iraq vets and almost unanimously among them, they agreed that Osama bought it years ago.

To a man, they do not believe the current event was the death of Osama.

What I don’t get is: IF Bush succeeded in killing Osama all those years ago, what on earth could persuade him to forego the gargantuan political capital to be made out of it?

Maybe the Bush administration felt it meant more to ‘appear’ on the hunt for Osama in order to justify staying in the ME and A’stan. Otherwise, LIKE NOW, once Osama is perceived as ‘dead’, there is greater popular opinion to bring troops home.

Of course… accepting Bush’s lie in pretending Osama was alive means we also have to accept Obama’s faking that he ‘killed’ Osama.

In the end though, there is WAY more political capital to be made out of Obama ‘killing Osama and bringing the troops home’ than there was in Bush ‘failing to kill Osama and remaining deployed’.

You’ve answered your own question. There is a greater opinion to bring troops home now but the difference is the liberal media will take whatever position in regards to this Obama wants them to take, whereas if a Rep where president the liberal media would be clamoring loudly to get the troops home citing the upwelling of public opinion for the move.

I’ve thought for years that Osama could very well be dead, BUT buried in one of the many caves we reduced to ashes Who could have dug out every one of those caves and hunted for his remains, and would there be anything left to prove his DNA?
