Lawrence Guy is smart. You know this because in the spring semester of last year he got a GPA of nearly 3.5 in his classes at Arizona State, which allowed Guy, then a defensive tackle on the football team, to wear a patch on his jersey distinguishing him as one of the schools Scholar Ballers. You know this too because when he grows comfortable with someone and his shyness falls away, the words spill out in torrents and his eyes shine bright.
And then you see why his former football position coach, a grizzled-sounding man now working in the NFL, calls him a great kid.

What a great story! An excellent example of how someone used the tools offered to them and became successful.
I wish him nothing but well.
A good friends daughter grew up autistic, and into a teacher assistant for special needs kids. So very proud of her. I also point to her when a certain in law’s sorry daughter talks about not getting SSI for her “disability”.
My boss had a short NFL career due to injury. But while in college, he majored in engineering, not some general studies. He worked in a refinery during the summer. While in the NFL he did not fall for the “livin’ large” temptation. When the injury hit, he was back in the refinery. Then started his own business in industrial instrumentation service.
I just read this on Yahoo. Great story, indeed.
