In the month since political analyst Donna Brazile took the helm as interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, she's been focused on matters relating to the 2012 election, including a push by Republican-controlled state legislatures to require photo identification at the polls. Republicans say that the laws are necessary to prevent voter fraud, but Brazile claims that they're a partisan tactic designed to weed out voters who are more likely to be Democrats and help the GOP on Election Day.
"The photo-identification laws that Republicans are pushing across the country are most likely to disenfranchise young Americans, poor Americans and minorities -- individuals who are least likely to have government identification or to be able to afford to get it," said Brazile in a recent DNC statement.
Eight states have photo-ID laws, and legislation is pending in more than 30 others. Among the more noteworthy measures:
* An Ohio bill would require one of four forms of photo identification at the polls: an Ohio driver's license, a personal state ID card, a military ID or a passport.
* Under a Kansas bill, not only must voters show a photo ID at the polls; in order to register to vote, they will also have to produce their birth certificate or other proof of citizenship.
* A pending Texas bill rejects voters with IDs from state universities but would accept, among a few other forms of identification, a handgun license.

CIP: As Gore's for-a-while campaign manager in 2000, Brazile clumsily started a furor within her own party -- which was trying to appeal to the middle class, political independents and suburban voters -- when she said the pillars of the Democratic Party were African Americans, organized labor, women and homosexuals.
What an idiot
Corruption at higher levels Proof positive these tyrants are not interested in fairness, integrity. It’s all about them and their selfish interests
“...a partisan tactic designed to weed out voters who are more likely to be Democrats and help the GOP on Election Day.”
Likely to be illegals, non-registered and/or dead!
Score one for her! - Absolutely CORRECT !
In the game of voter fraud, Democrats’ opposition to the voter photo id requirement is what’s known as a poker tell.
>but Brazile claims that they’re a partisan tactic designed to weed out voters who are more likely to be Democrats and help the GOP on Election Day. <
Why thank you for pointing that out, Dummycrat. These “voters” are NOT residents nor citizens, ergo, they should NOT vote. See Donna, you dont have to stay at the Holiday Inn to figure that out.
Oh! The humanity! Why, you mean that people will actually have to demonstrate that they are eligible to vote? They will actually have to demonstrate that they are whom they say they are when appearing at the polls? What's a Democrat to do? How can they be expected to win an election if only eligible, registered voters are allowed to cast a ballot? This will be the end of the world as they know it.
This measure is no longer a bill, its now the law and I will proudly show my identification at the next election.
Donna doesn’t approve of corruption being exposed.
I guess if the question is “what is the capital of Mongolia?”, she is right. If the question is “how do we improve the integrity of the ballot box?” she is completely wrong.
Hey Donna, you know that photo ID to vote and proof of citizenship to register will put a big dent in that Dem voter base.
...all those who aren't eligible to vote as well as the people we pay to vote multiple times in different precincts. (sarcasm)
Seriously, how many citizens cannot produce any proof of it? If this is really a problem, we need to be looking at THAT. I think virtually everyone has a photo ID and it’s really seriously time people like this woman are called on the lie that they don’t. I’m so sick of duplicity in public officials.
OK Donna Brazilla-——when we don’t need to show our photo ID at airports, banks and retailers then its a go. Until then No ID should equal No voting. PERIOD!
And where, may I ask, are the Republicans lined up to say “This is designed to prevent illegal voting which is the mainstay of the Democrat Party. Tough sh*t.”
It's a shame that the dems successfully polluted what once was the very symbol of American freedom and patriotism.
