Doesn't this guy hate the GOP.

It is interesting that both he and Rosie O Donnell are coming out against Obama's action.

Chomsky...puck.

I called that SOB out once and told him to meet me in the parking lot so I could stomp his nuts into the concrete.

He never showed up.

If GW Bush was killed in a similar matter we would be pissed, obviously!! And by the way, Iraqi commandos? Iraq was made up of Saddam and his henchmen. The other 85% of the population were kept in poverty. There are no commandos in Iraq. Heck, it was barely a functioning country.

Moving on....

We have laws of war. And we have laws against crime. The genius of Al Qaeda (if you allow me) was that were able to find the legal seem between both of these facets of law. Simply put, our laws meant to deal with individuals and even large groups. However, they were never intended to deal with a group numbering into the millions representing no country who one day decide to declare war on America.

From my point of view, an enemy such as this has got to be dealt with by the President in any way he sees fit. Unfortunately, some laws will have to be bent (enhanced interrogation) while others broken completely (Assassinating Bin Laden). Furthermore, some errors might even occur. I’m OK with this not because I like it, but because we have no other choice. Even Barack Obama saw this when he sat down behind the desk at the oval office.

As far as Iraq goes, it was undertaken for many things, but one of the key reasons was to offer the Muslim world an alternative to extremism. Step 1) Kill the terrorist. Step 2) Offer them something better. Get it?

I know many middle easterners who are frustrated by the ignorance and intolerance and violence of their home countries. One day, maybe elected leaders will replace loony control hungry despots in the middle east and if that day arrives, it will undoubtedly be traced back to Iraq

""We might ask ourselves how we would be reacting if Iraqi commandos landed at George W. Bush’s compound, assassinated him, and dumped his body in the Atlantic."

Chomsky is so stupid, he still thinks George Bush is President.

We might also be asking how we’d be reacting if American commandos landed in Berchtesgaden, assassinated Hitler and dumped his body in the Danube.

He describes himself as an anarcho-syndicalist and libertarian socialist and perpetual foreign policy critic going back to Vietnam.

Even when criticizing Obama's action I note he finds multiple ways to blame Bush.

t’s like naming our murder weapons after victims of our crimes: Apache, Tomahawk… It’s as if the Luftwaffe were to call its fighter planes “Jew” and “Gypsy.”

What a loon.

What about Chickenhawk?

“And if we’re interested in, let’s say, diminishing the amount of violence in the world, it’s at least arguable and sometimes true that a terroristic act does diminish the amount of violence in the world. Hence a person who is opposed to violence will not be opposed to that terroristic act.”

It sounds like he's not aware that planes were flown into the World Trade Center towers at OBL's behest, or he wouldn't equate him with GWB.

Personally though, I think he's simply being intellectually dishonest and disingenuous.

It's a pity because a lot of college age kids (and their professors) adore him. A reflection of their "intelligence," sadly.

“For example, there’s no moral equivalence between the bombing of the World Trade Center and the destruction of Nicaragua or of El Salvador, of Guatemala. The latter were far worse, by any criterion. So there’s no moral equivalence.”

It’s hard to figure out where to begin with this self-serving ‘analysis’, but I’ll point out that it follows the classic Chomsky template, where the most outrageous historical parallels are drawn, and then the piece is quickly drawn to a close with the intimate understanding that the reader knows exactly what he’s talking about and is invited to stay on and tune in at some later date for a fuller analysis. Funny, Noam, I alwsys thought names like Apache, Tomahawk, or for that matter the Braves and Redskins in pro sports were minted to HONOR the American Indian as fighter , warrior and potential victor, not to demean him as victim or loser. But that’s just me and my incomplete, non-academic education).

Noam uses CRITICAL THEORY extremely well. Perhaps he could compare the equivalence of our Libyan intervention? Ex: What if China expropriated $20byn from US interests to fund the New Black Panther’s democracy movement in Philadelphia??

Noam Chomsky: Friend of dictators and mass murderers. This is so comical it’s hardly worth commenting on.

"We might ask ourselves how we would be reacting if Iraqi commandos landed at George W. Bush’s compound, assassinated him, and dumped his body in the Atlantic."

Actually I've asked myself how I would react if American patriots landed at Noam Chomsky's compound, assassinated him, and dumped his body in the Atlantic.

For all his loud-mouth sympathy for the world’s oppressed, you’d think he’d live in a racially/ethnically diverse lower-class neighborhood. But does he? NO! He’s lived in the overwhelmingly white upper-middle class suburb of Lexington, MA since 1965.

Interestingly, another article today said that Bin Laden was a big Chomsky fan. The Noam/Osama love affair has come to a close and an angry Noam has descended into tearful, angry declarations about us evil U.S. citizens. poor Noam.

Oh yes, Noam Chomsky, the apologist for Pol Pot, is someone whose opinions we should take seriously. As the Brits say, pull the other one.

Noam Chomsky is a ignorant soul. The left loves him because he is a good communicator; but he is shallow intellectually.
