Is There No Guard on Your Walls, Oh Israel?

Fatah & Hamas Become one By Ari Bussel

One thing became evident during my first two days in Israel: Israel goes round and round, like ducklings around their mother. They stray and go in all directions, always under the watchful eye of Mother Duck.

But in Israel’s case, Mother Duck is the Palestinians, and Israel behaves contrary to her age, centuries-old wisdom or experience.

Hamas’ Political Wing in Damascus, Syria, and Fatah (the Palestinian Authority), have agreed in Egypt to a reconciliation that will eventually lead to a transitory unity government. Elections will be established within a year (for the president and parliament).

Hamas now rules in Hamastan in Gaza and is accepted by many as the democratically elected representative of the Palestinians. In its charter it calls for the destruction of the Jewish state and refuses to recognize Israel.

The West has conveniently separated its favorite child, the Palestinian Authority, from Hamas deeming the latter a “terrorist organization” while waiting anxiously to embrace the Palestinians as a full-fledge member of the Family of Nations this September. Yet, Fatah calls for the same end-result as Hamas: No Israel, no Jewish state; throw the Jews to the Sea. Fatah’s stance, for some odd reason, is more palatable to a West willing to close both eyes to the continued incitement and hatred emanating from the “PA.”

I have long advocated that Israel must deal with Hamas. If “democratically-elected,” then they are the true representatives of the “Palestinians.” Besides, it is better to deal with an entity that tells the world directly, without any pretense, “our objective is one, and nothing but the following: DESTROY THE JEWISH STATE. We will not relent; we will fight to Israel’s bitter end.”

There is more that unites the Palestinian Tribes than separates them. Hatred toward Israel is a wonderful catalyst.

Add the latest reconciliation to the plan to be recognized by the UN’s General Assembly in September, and Israel will finally be forced to face reality.

How does Israel respond? Israel’s Prime Minister states:

“The ‘PA’ must decide if it wants peace with Israel or peace with Hamas.

“It cannot have both since Hamas wants to destroy Israel and says so explicitly.

“The reconciliation evidences the weakness of Fatah and raises questions if Hamas will assume control over Judea and Samaria as well.”

The United States added that any Palestinian government must adhere to the following conditions: “avoiding violence, honoring agreements with Israel and recognizing Israel’s right to exist.” The conditions of the Quartet are mentioned nowhere in the reconciliation agreement.

Mother Duck is overpowering Netanyahu, the duckling. He has suddenly discovered that the Palestinians (who were trained and armed by Israel or at its explicit permission) are going to be one with Hamas. He is at a loss about how to react, so his spokespeople and political advisors released a statement that is repeated every hour on the hour.

The Palestinians, much better at handling the world public opinion, laugh directly at this lost duckling. They immediately responded with a statement of their own, mimicking frail and laughable Netanyahu:

“The agreement is an internal Palestinian and Israel has no connection to it.

“Fatah is committed to the peace process and calls Netanyahu to choose between peace and settlements.”

Israel definitely needs to take a lesson or two (or more) from the Palestinian textbook. What a classic response: Mimic Netanyahu in his own construction of a sentence, just transpose the message to serve your own goals.

Claim loudly that settlements are the only obstacle to peace, not the hatred and active pursuit of terrorist acts and war against the Jewish State.

Will anything change between now and September? The Palestinians are solidifying their position, making sure a free and independent Palestine is recognized by an anti-Semitic United Nations. In fact, they realize it will not be “free” as long as Israel exists. They probably already have a blitz attack against Israel that will call for the Security Council to save the Palestinians from the Israelis by sending forces and authorizing military action against the aggressor Zionists.

One must admit, this is a classic plan by the Palestinians. Israelis in the meantime are completely lost. No vision, no leadership and no plan of action. What will happen this time around—another national commission of inquiry headed by a former judge? Or this time will it be by former heads of state?

Alas, it was never Mother Duck keeping a watchful eye over the playing ducklings. It was a very smart cat, licking its lips at the sight and sound of a plump dinner. Ready to extend a paw at the most opportune time, when a watchful eye’s attention is diverted.

Pluck, as the head of the first duckling is chopped off, blood ejecting in spurts. Pluck, the next, and the next.

Israel, you are being slaughtered like sitting ducks? Is there no guard on your walls?

One of the watchmen is a Gentile from Holland: Geert Wilders. Another closer to home genetically is David Horowitz. I listen to them. What can I do?
