WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Americans who raided Osama bin Laden's lair met far less resistance than the Obama administration described in the aftermath. The commandos encountered gunshots from only one man, whom they quickly killed, before sweeping the house and shooting others, who were unarmed, a senior defense official said in the latest account.
In Thursday's revised telling, the Navy SEALs mounted a precision, floor-by-floor operation to find the al-Qaida leader and his protectors - but without the prolonged and intense firefight that officials had described for several days.

I read a trait description of (I think it's called) destructive narcissism (it was actually an article on Charlie Sheen), and Obama fit all five categories EXACTLY,
That will invite more outrage among all would-be jihadists than any photo in a newspaper.
It was a totally unnecessary and irresponsible thing to do, - even if in fact it was the truth.
I guess they did it because Zer0 didn't get the kind of bounce in the polls that they were clamoring for.
Absolutely. First off, whatever intel was collected at the site could have been put to good use. Better yet, once you had SEALS on the ground you might as well try to capture Bin Laden and others for secret interrogation - but not tell anyone he had been captured or killed.
Even if the raid itself became public it would be possible to claim Bin Laden wasn't really there, etc. Thus confusing lower level elements of his organization while still sending a very strong message to his inner circle who would find out over time what happened to him from the survivors.
Every country in the world doesn't like the idea of an American hit squad dropping into a sovereign nation and ‘whacking’ someone. Even Castro crapped his pants. Regardless of the reason or justification, this promotes total lawlessness. Like the U.S. is now the Mafia and if we have a beef with you, we'll have you whacked. From Russia to South America, leaders all over the world were beefing up security and looking at America as a rogue nation.
Question: If we can do this to them, why can't they do the same to us? Why can't they drop in a hit squad into the U.S. to take out a dissident who they claim murdered thousands?
The people running this thing were very short sighted. They should have paid me to consult. I could have told them that this was going to have sever global ramifications and was not going to be a walk in the park.

I glad used that term. He has outed himself in a very uncharacteristic way, as actually being responsible for something. I know what he did is cheap, petty, and childish (very typical), but by saying it this way he has put himself up as the sole guy for the inevitable, predictable, you could almost say daily, ‘Muslim Rage’. He kinda stuck his neck out there for the backlash (no pun intended).

I Disagree, release EVERYTHING. (short of participants names)
It's not revision, it's "nuance," something we simpletons haven't the capacity to grasp.
Develop a time-line graphic of all the revisions and then watch them spin it.
Re How many revisions is this? Like the weather, wait a few minutes. You’ll get more.
And as for those three guys with all the blood running out of them. They’re just a figment of your computer’s imagination. Ignore them. They don’t exist.
PS: I think Bin Laden’s last words were: “Oh goody, pizza-man’s here”.
Isn't it just as likely that they did it because they're a bunch of incompetent clowns that don't collectively possess the experience or intellect to lead a Girl Scout cookie drive, much less the US Armed Forces and intelligence agencies?
I think if you assign some purpose to the cluster-f**k that has been their post-raid press management, you're giving them WAY too much credit. I think everyday that goes by where Obama doesn't accidentally press "the red button" to blow us all to Kingdom come, is pure luck. If we even make it to the next election, I'll be amazed at this point.
We have a team of SEALs make a 200 mile (or more trip) through hostile territory, into a sovereign nation that is also populated by people who hate us, they kill the most wanted man in the world and none of them get so much as a hangnail - and this White House is incapable of not screwing (although that's not the word I want to use) the freakin' press conference up - ALL FIVE TIMES.
For the first time in my life, I'm embarrassed to be an American because we have retard running the country.
Yep.
Missing 20 minutes of recording? Reminds me of Nixon. Let's hope this one ends similarly.
PilotDave noted yesterday on a different thread that there were 25 or so camera helmets on those SEALS/CIA dudes, each one having a ram card for video storage. There’s no way all those failed to save/record.
Any claim that the admin has no footage is to absurd to even be considered a lie.
Yes, I think a real case could be made for that approach. I will say that the only thing problematic about not saying anything was the helo that had to be destroyed. You'd have to come up with some kind of cover story, which perhaps a more competent administration could have.
But the larger point about not telling the world bin Laden was dead, or even there, probably has some merit. Operationally, we would be much better off if we didn't tell them their leader was dead. That would have led to even more confusion for them.
Read the article below if you want to get sick. I guess they were all watching DWTS?

Leon Panetta, director of the CIA, revealed there was a 25 minute blackout during which the live feed from cameras mounted on the helmets of the US special forces was cut off.
A photograph released by the White House appeared to show the President and his aides in the situation room watching the action as it unfolded. In fact they had little knowledge of what was happening in the compound.
In an interview with PBS, Mr Panetta said: “Once those teams went into the compound I can tell you that there was a time period of almost 20 or 25 minutes where we really didn't know just exactly what was going on. And there were some very tense moments as we were waiting for information.
I agree 100%! This can ONLY be good for “our side”! When the Military gets fed up with his sh*t, it’s gonna get ugly for the Usurper. Personally, I can’t wait.
lol! good one :)
Well, everybody looks shocked when they have allergies dont’cha know. Phhhttt!
