WASHINGTON – Only one of the five people killed in the raid that got Osama bin Laden was armed and fired a shot, a senior defense official said Thursday, acknowledging the new account differs greatly from original administration portrayals of a chaotic, intense and prolonged firefight. The sole shooter in the al-Qaida leader's Pakistani compound was quickly killed in the early minutes of the commando operation, details that have become clearer now that the Navy SEAL assault team has been debriefed, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the record.

Osama was assassinated. Obama is concerned that will tick of his left-wing wacko base so his administration tried to peddle the story of an intense fire fight. As usual, it is all about Obama.
Even if this is true so what? Did these people not know how to put their hands in the air? I can’t believe a team of highly trained Seals would shoot someone who is surrendering.

All these different stories are intended to diminish the great job the real heroes did and confuse the American public. Its by design. Obama can’t stand the spotlight off him. That’s why no pictures. It takes attention from him. He will now be told to say that he alone will get to the bottom of all this controversy thus throwing him back in the spotlight. I can’t stand this ass clown.
I agree. It doesn’t matter how it went down. It matters that we have a different version every damn day from der Leader.
Supposedly the Pakistanis have refused access by U.S. government to these people. It would be interesting (and quite possible) that the Pakistanis will put together a compilation of witness statements and publish them …or… perhaps even allow media access. Few bullet holes in the walls FWIW.
I applaud the Seals but the after action ‘fact’ releases by the Administration is an abysmal comedy of errors and misstatements akin to the gang who couldn’t shoot straight (unlike the Seals who shot very straight).
This report has been clarified. The rest of them were legged. Which is why the fire fight lasted so long. It's harder to take down legged resistance than it is to overcome armed resistance. This is common knowledge in the military. Patton used to speak of it at length.

The worst part about it is that they are cooking up facts to get the conclusion that they want. And the MSM dutifully parrots everything that is said. Any normal reporter/editor would be worried about their credibilty with the public about now.
