(Reuters) - A senior Pakistani security official said U.S. troops killed Osama bin Laden in "cold blood", fuelling a global controversy and straining a vital relationship Washington was trying to repair on Thursday.
And Pakistan's army, in its first comment since Monday's raid, threatened to halt cooperation with its military sponsor if it repeated what it called a violation of sovereignty.
But Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Washington was still anxious to maintain its alliance with Islamabad.
"It is not always an easy relationship. You know that," she said.
"But, on the other hand, it is a productive one for both our countries and we are going to continue to cooperate between our governments, our militaries, our law-enforcement agencies, but most importantly between the American and Pakistani people."

Bingo, Allegra. Bingo.
For all the people who died on 9/11, for all the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq who died and were injured because they had to go there after 9/11, for all the money we have spent, for all the time we stand in TSA lines, for all the times we have to take off our damned shoes...
He deserved it. I take no joy in his death, I have other things in life that elicit joy. But if ever there was a Son of A Bitch who deserved a shot in the face, it was that perverted, Godless, twisted piece of crap.
As I said, I sure do hope he had the woman in front and said “Don’t shoot! I am Osama Bin Laden, and I surrender!”
As he released the woman, I hope there was a pause long enough for the piece of fish food to see the eyes of the SEAL who ended his life, and that OBL knew he wasn’t going to get three squares a day in an American prison for the rest of his pathetic life.
...U.S. troops killed Osama bin Laden in "cold blood"That's what "shoot on sight" means, dumbass.
And Pakistan's army, in its first comment since Monday's raid, threatened to halt cooperation with its military sponsor if it repeated what it called a violation of sovereignty.So... are you hiding any more high-profile islamofascist murdering bastards with a death mark on their heads? If so, expect the unexpected.
I wish they would get their stories straight. Just yesterday they were saying he was shot in the face.
Well, they sort of have to at least pretend outrage for their own domestic consumption. After all, we did violate their territory, and horribly embarrased them in the process. Not only by finding bin Laden under their noses, but because we performed this operation under the noses of their own military whose response was so slow they couldn't do anything about it. Pakistan looks bad for hiding him, looks bad for letting us get in and out so easily, and looks bad for dealing with the reality that they are powerless to do anything about what we did. I mean, that's a lot of international humiliation for the Pakistani military and Intelligence services to deal with. Heh.
So, I'm not getting bent out of shape about this rather pathetic attempt to save some face. It's almost comical at this point, because if they were really outraged, they could at least demand compensation, break off relations or recall their ambassador for consultations, etc. But all they did is say "now don't do that again!"
I think that's pretty funny.
How do they know he was even shot? Or, that he’s dead?
There’s no body.
No pictures (of OBL) have been released.
For all they (or any of the rest of us) know, the SEALS could have staged the assault and just whisked him away and are interrogating him as we speak.
Maybe we should agree with the Islamists who say OBL is still alive and tell them he is in a cell with two pigs - that would really get them in a tizzy!
Just a thought.
Obama got elected promising to wage war without “betraying our principles.” To hear him tell it, waterboarding KSM was an atrocity unequaled since the holocaust. He couldn't take responsibility for the incarceration and interrogation of bin Laden. He had to make sure bin Laden died, whether he surrendered or not. On the other hand, Obama can't go before the world and justify a summary execution. He would look like the utterly unprincipled, braying ass that he is.
If the photos of UBL’s corpse show an exit wound in the forehead and photos from the scene suggest that UBL was shot in the back of the head while kneeling or lying down, the events of last Sunday are going to turn from a political dream for Obama into a nightmare. He can't defend summary extra-judicial execution. He can't scapegoat the SEALs, America would crucify him for it. He's got to hope no clear picture of what happened to UBL ever emerges, which is probably why we haven't seen the photographic evidence.
Pakistan is on pins and needles right now because they've just been nailed aiding and abetting bin Laden. This is a warning shot across Obama’s bow and as such it is extremely interesting.
Yeah somebody clue the Paki’s in. Thats why its called search and kill. LOL!!
That is a pretty good summary!
So, killing someone with a bullet to the head is somehow worse than dropping a stealth bomb on him from a Predator drone????
“So, the WH is having having trouble spinning this, and, IMHO, its going to backfire on Zero.”
I think it already has. Undisciplined, incoherent and contradictory information has emanated from the White Hut for the past several days.
Releasing info that shouldn’t be released (too much info re the commandos and particulars of the mission) while refusing to release photos of the outcome. The ridiculous Wyatt Earp performance Sunday night, striding importantly to the teleprompter to deliver the “I, I, Me, Me” announcement in solitary splendor with an obligatory jab at Bush for not being able to accomplish what HE has done...
Foolish.
Damned right we did. So what?
“they warned the terrorists death could produce many more radical figures to take his place.”
Now I know where Pelosi gets her talking points.
Ahhhh, and what did ol’ binnie do to the 3000+ he ordered murdered? He was a war criminal, not some innocent, like those that he murdered. And as such, we had every right to do what was done.
Even after all taking all the credit, I can still see Barry easily casting blame: he told them to go in and capture Osama; they acted stupidly when they saw resistance; they were surprised by something and just decided to kill him; etc. Given all that’s happened since his annointment, the rule of law and logic no longer apply when it comes to what he’ll do (or what the liberals will stomach).
I doubt Southern Democrats would go along with any attempts to smear the military. Pride in God, country and our military still runs strong there. But, does Barry and his ilk understand this, or do they think they have a way to work their way around it?
Good post. I kind of like the “whisked away and alive for “questioning” by trained personnel while “somebody else’s body” is dumped into the ocean.
I could deal with that as well.
...As long as they gave him a “proper burial in the muslim tradition” at sea AFTER they “question” him.
This is only going to get worse. The WH is in turmoil, IMHO.

Dear Reuters and your muzzie journalist.
Yes, you’d WISH that the US was trying to repair the strained relationship. Bs...
Osama was taken down cold blooded style? Well, he reaped and we showed up, and did things wild west style. Yipee Kye Aye....
