This is a tax ON vehicle efficiency.

The more miles per gallon you drive, the higher the tax irrespective of the number of gallons you use.

So, why would Obama and his running dog lackeys need to tax high efficiency vehicles?

Well, cars are more efficient these days ~ friend of ours new Elantra is getting 40 MPG city, which is astounding. That means she uses fewer gallons which means her gasoline tax payments have dropped.

Bingo. And when people start driving less, the government will then charge them for owning a car, even if they don't drive it. When people sell their cars, the government will charge them anyway. They'll call it the "Highway Freedom Bill", or some such balderdash.

This is also a tax on people that don’t live within large cities. Many people live in suburban areas and commute into the city. They would be hit harder than the Obama voters that live within the city.

Punishing people for long commutes - many of which were caused by a sh*tty economy (perpetuated by Obama) making it necessary to take a far-flung job 50 miles away...

Punishing people for driving to vacations and tourism, that’ll really help the tourism industry.

Great idea there, Barry. D*uchebag.

Who says the liberal gestapo want to tax all vehicles the same amount per mile? Their plan may be to tax bigger vehicles that use more gas at a higher rate per mile than small vehicles. That would be their way of forcing people to drive smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles.

The House should defund this project immediately. This is a total waste of tax money and an outrageous plan to infringe on personal liberty. A tax per mile will never pass in congress, so this whole study is a waste of money and is just adding to the federal debt load. The liberals are now in favor of cutting the federal deficit, so let's start by cancelling this outrageous project.

Any idiot can see that it would make far more sense to simply raise the existing tax per gallon of gasoline. They claim to want to discourage the use of “fossil” fuels so why not give the advantage to high mileage vehicles? Next thing we will hear is that they want to make bicycle riders pay a per mile tax.
