Wait til you know about the real reason why Aerosmith broke up. Joe Perry, 1/2 of the duo, came out as a Republican in the Boston Herald and gave his support to McCain while Tyler, a flaming lib, thought that Perry was a racist. 3 years later, they rarely talk to each other.

Steven Tyler has made waves on this season of American Idol, and he will continue to do this month. It was announced on Tuesday that the singer has plans to debut his first ever solo single on the Fox reality series later this month. The single will hit the radio on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on May 9, and then it will premiere on the results show to air May 12. Not only that, but Steven Tyler has managed to talk his band, Aerosmith, to perform on the Idol finale later this month. He hinted at the possibility earlier in the season.
According to TV Guide, the single is titled It Feels So Good, and it will be the music video for the song that will premiere on the episode. Jennifer Lopez did the same earlier this season with one of the music releases off her latest album. However, Steven has not released a solo song before. All his music has been released with Aerosmith. There was some tension between him and the band when he took on the judge role at American Idol, but he didn’t let that tension stop him from taking the job at Fox.
He said the following about the appearance of the band on Idol: “We’re playing the last show of the season. It was always my intention, always, to get Aerosmith on the show. I mean, Joe [Perry]’s done it. I’m ready for it. I would love to play with Aerosmith.” The fact that the rest of the band has set aside their issues and decided to perform on the finale for Idol is interesting to see. Joe Perry had even threatened Tyler with the possibility of the band continuing on without him, but it looks like that hasn’t happened. Aerosmith has been in the business a long time, and once Steven Tyler is done playing judge on Idol, he will more than likely return to the band. Right now, he is trying on the solo act on for size, but he is and will always be a band front man.

That Steven Tyler… such a diplomat! He has merged American Idol fans with his Aerosmith fan base in a major way, bringing ever more rock and roll people into the Idol fold, and introducing a whole new audience to his work with Aerosmith. And remember back when some people were saying that joining up with the Idol crew would ruin his credibility? Preposterous! Or anyway, it seems that way now from this side of Steven’s star turn as an Idol judge.
In fact, those old bad feelings are so far in the past, Steven’s biggest critic — Aerosmith guitarist, Joe Perry — has reportedly buried the hatchet. Rumors were swirling that Steven and Joe had made up and were in plans to get a new Aerosmith album going. Well, Steven T has confirmed as much via his Twitter, saying the feud is over. Or at least that’s what we think he’s saying, though his creative spelling sure doesn’t make it easy.
