They did. The tail rotor section is all that is left. Picture 5 at FoxNews is what is left of the main section. Torched but good I’d say.

If you mean, why not destroy it while the operation was going on?... I have read they did try destroying it. may-be they had to get out as soon as possible? and it was over looked.
There are a lot of strange story’s’ on this operation. Looks as though the American Gov. want release the true story for forty or fifty years from now, if even then? Leaks will be the only way trying to put all of this in perspective?
From what I read the tail contacted the security wall when it set down hard. The SEALs destroyed the main section. There are pictures of the charred rubble.
I heard reports that the SEALS blew it up before they left the compound. Makes sense.
