No, I don’t think a coup happened here. I agree with Vermont LT. This was a planned snatch, to be played for political advantage at a time of Obama’s choosing, but it went wrong because of the chopper crash. Now Obama has to look like he was in charge, whereas before, when it was supposed to stay a secret, he had to look uninvolved. It’s the natural conflict in the two cover stories that’s generating the coup theory (BTW, a coup theory may actually help him with the jihadi’s - “hey, it wasn’t my fault. The evil American military made me do it.”). But publicly he plays it like he meant it to happen the way it did. I don’t think so.
