I have not read all the comments here yet, but tonight I heard a report that the shot in the head caused his eye to pop out and hang, that the side of his head was blown off and the brain exposed. I have a son in Special Forces who has already served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has 6 more years to go on a 20 year service. I do not think seeing such an exceptionally gruesome picture will discourage terrorists from even more extreme acts. I’m against showing it. Then again there are people who adore gore, and can’t get enough of it.

It has nothing to do with gore. He was the most wanted world-wide. To just say he is dead is BS.

Hell, Bonnie and Clyde were ripped up pretty good as were many others in history, but there was never any compunction to not release a photo.

The gore is not the point. I hate gore. I have deliberately avoided all the photos and videos of the hostages who have been beheaded by terrorists. I never watch horror shows. I myself am NOT looking forward to seeing Bin Laden’s corpse, since I’m sure it looks awful. My point was simply that unless our govt. SHOWS the corpse, or at least photos of it, the rumor that Bin Laden is still alive will grow larger. That rumor already has a foothold not only on the jihadist websites but even on U.S. political websites such as this one. We must show conclusively that Bin Laden is dead, dead, dead. We must show that any terrorist who acts against us will never be able to rest easy, because we will not rest until we get him. It is an important lesson.

If the pictures are released, at least those who want to look, can look. Those who don’t want to, don’t have to.

That description sounds like something typical of Hollywood these days. I doubt it would shock many. I think they should be released, and at the same time, I doubt I would view them myself.
