the Indians did not fight according to the Marquis of Queensbury. They were brutal and really did earn the title “savage.” That did not come from their pagan beliefs, but from the brutality of their attacks

AT least they didn't take scalps as a business enterprise - to sell. (The gov't paid pretty good.)

Oh, please do not get me wrong. There was horrific action on both sides. But, after spending a few weeks in Arizona and New Mexico last year, the Native Americans have learned about to take scalps over, and over, and over.
