Jon Huntsman takes step toward 2012 bid
Politico ^ | 05/03/2011 | Jonathan Martin

Former China Ambassador Jon Huntsman took his first step toward a presidential run Tuesday, creating a federal political action committee that will allow him to travel and raise money in the weeks before he’s expected to formally announce a bid.

Moving swiftly since his return to Washington from Beijing Friday, Huntsman filed paperwork with the Federal Election Committee to begin “H PAC,” an organization that his aides say will be the last placeholder before a full-blown campaign. There will be no testing-the-waters entity or exploratory committee.

“This is a paperwork step,” said spokesman Tim Miller. “He’s doing the organizational things required by campaign finance law. When he wants to make an announcement he will make an announcement.”

That will likely come by early summer, after the Republican former Utah governor has visited early primary states and conferred at length with his family and the small circle of advisers who have been laying the groundwork for his run since the start of the year.

All signs suggest that he’ll go forward with a bid.

He’s just trying to set himself up as Romney’s VP choice.

“He’s just trying to set himself up as Romney’s VP choice”. Dig deeper. He has larger plans than that . I'm not sure if Huntsman thinks having two Mormon's on the ticket is a good idea .

No way. This guy is to conservatives what Janet Reno is to a South Beach wet T-shirt contest.

Ambassador to China may very well be the most important ambassadorial appointment Obama made. He doesn’t much give a damn about our former good friends, such as England, but China is a key post. He wouldn’t give that to anyone he didn’t really like and trust.

What does that say about Huntsman?

I’m convinced that 720Hawk is a hit-and-run GOP troll.

All he does is post hit pieces against Sarah and threads promoting RINOs like Huntsman. He’s got a November 2008 sign-up date too.

This is turning into a major nightmare. We just may lose this election if folks like this are serious about running. I mean so far he, Gary Johnson and Fred Karger are announced candidates. Cain might have some traction if he announces. Romney, Huckster, and Trump are pure loser candidates......Michele Bachman is great but she really needs to announce soon. Sarah is our most possible win and she has not made up her mind yet. Come on Sarah or we are doomed!!!!! If we lose 2012 than we are a complete disaster as a party when we can’t even beat Obama.

From Wiki .

At the 2008 Republican National Convention, Huntsman delivered a nominating speech for Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, the party’s nominee for Vice President.

I did google it and you are right. What a loser. Can’t even finish high school????? How embarrassing would that be during the debate. Even Obama could say, “Well I went to Harvard and some say that I may have not done that well but you could not even manage to finish high school.” That would be quite a disaster.

Well that was nice. I don’t remember it. I do remember her speech and it was outstanding.
