According to this guy, himself the survivor of the massive inflation that ruined Argentina in the 1980s and 1990s, the following (Americanized) general rules apply:
- Live in states which allow you to carry firearms and allow you to use them as necessary for self defense.
- Avoid inner cities at all costs.
- Avoid country living - home invasions and robberies are too easy to pull off and will take place.
- Small towns where you know your neighbors and they know you are the best.
- Garden, farm and raise livestock with friends and family, operating in groups if possible. Pick areas easy to guard.
- Renting housing is much better than owning. Neighborhoods can and will change overnight. Local entities will tax real estate into oblivion.
- Get some precious metals and bury them where only you (and your spouse if you have one and trust them) know where they are stashed.
- Lay in a year's stash of food,
- Get a mean guard dog.
There are many more sensible suggestions in the book.
It is required reading for the times ahead, IMHO.

Avoid country living - home invasions and robberies are too easy to pull off and will take place. That's been a growing problem already in Maine, where rural drug use and poverty is causing theft and burglaries to increase dramtically.

Difference between country living in Argentina and the USA ? Argentina - only the criminals have guns Rural America - more guns than criminals and we know how to use them . Rural areas with great gun laws rarely have problems .

That depends on several assumptions. Not all areas are so close to cities or so temperate in climate. Living in some places in the USA can be nearly like living on Mars. There are no nearby services, few routes and sometimes private roads. Imagine skin freezing within a few seconds in a landscape that looked inviting from a heated car. Imagine wanna-be home invaders from the lowlands or high plains not able to run more than a few steps in retreat from a country dog, camera, security light or homeowners without defecating on themselves due to lack of oxygen, and having only one or two routes of retreat back to their city, deputies waiting for them.
Yes, high places in the West are fine for visitors during summers.
