That was my thought. A burial site would become a shrine. Anyway, they said on the radio that it was difficult to find a country that would accept his body, and they only have 24 hours to bury him.
I don’t think bringing this “not a muslim leader” home for a positive ID and secretly disposing of the body would’ve been very difficult for the military to do at all.

Agreed. Think about what the Israelis did with Adolf Eichmann’s body after his execution —took it into international waters and dumped it so it couldn’t become a shrine for neo-Nazis.

Japan has a nice unused cement and steel sarcophagus at the site of the now defunct nuclear reactors....would make an ideal mausoleum, nice sea view and all.
