Nobody doubts their honor and skills. They and their families are in our prayers every night, and without them we would be a lost nation.
It appears this is one thing Obama inherited from Bush that most seem to agree is a good thing.
Obama finished what Clinton should have done when the President had years of opportunity, one strike in particular in the removal of UBL, as so written in Air Force Lt. Col. "Buzz" Patterson's (USAF, Ret.) book,Dereliction of Duty -the day on the golf course where Robert "Buzz" Patterson, who was appointed to carry the "nuclear football" for President Clinton and was always by the President's side, took a call from Intel who were watching UBL. The Lt. Col. could not get Clinton to take the call coming in from the field, where in a window of opportunity, Intel and a strike force were ready and waiting to carry out a mission to remove UBL.
Clinton while playing golf, became annoyed when he was repeatedly disrupted by Patterson about the dire urgency from the Field on this important target; remarking he would take care of it later.
Upon picking up the First Lady in the limo after her husband's day of golf, she asked the days events and was told by Patterson of the UBL incident. Learning her husband had not responded; she became angry and ordered the Major, immediately [even though she is just the First Lady] to get communications with the field back in touch with her husband--but it was far too late as hours had slipped by, Patterson wrote, and he went to bed. The window of opportunity had been short and had closed.
Patterson lays the blame for the jihad terror attacks of September 11, 2001, directly at Bill Clinton's feet.
Patterson wrote Clinton never understood that it takes twenty years for the military to develop a young soldier into a commanderand how he sacrificed the future as well as destroyed the existing military systems [Obama has had the advantage of the rebuild of intel under Bush]. It was more important to the Democrats popularity with voters seeing a budgetary "surplus" or "balance", which the Left still continues to remind Americans about how Bill Clinton had balanced the budget.
Patterson also wrote Clinton had continued the Carter legacy of devastating our military forces, spending, and morale [while in the White House the military were not to wear uniforms, unless a special event and were treated by staff and aids as servants].
To my knowledge the Clintons never responded publicly on this up close and personal information that Lt. Col Patterson had reported in his NY Times Best Seller..Dereliction of Duty
