Repeatedly, the cable news stations say OBL, his son and two courriers were the only people killed. Did his vaunted guards cut and run? BTW, a 40 minute fire fight is long time sitting in OBL's box. Seals are exceedingly well trained and can shoot the eye out of a mosquito - surely there have been a much higher body count.
And now reported the body has been buried at sea? Something is rotten in Denmark.
Was it a 40 minute fire fight? I heard a lot of the 40 minutes was ransacking the house for information.
Hanging out with the SEC and the CFTC.
It doesn’t make any sense to me. Hopefully more questions can clarify this situation.
That’s quiet simple. His bodyguards were probably from the Pakistani army, which happens to be an army with a country. Its not impossible that they are asked to stand back while the Americans did what they want. It’s not a bad bargain for the Pakistani army.
All this BS about the muzzie Pope hiding in a cave when he was living downtown all along.
Body guards probably were at the Mickey D’s down the street for the 49 cent cheeseburgers.
It may be that Bin Laden was protected by Pakistan intelligence service personnel who were told to flee just before the raid.
The Pak military academy was less than one click down the road. There was a hospital about 1 click in the other direction.
He was set up pretty well, overall. He no doubt had lots of eyes and ears of the Pak military and ISI telling cut-outs about any threats - of which there were basically none. He was so deep in Pakistan that our cross-border missions weren’t going to come anywhere close to his home.
And there’s this aspect: The more mouths to feed, the more mouths to blab. The news stories say that our guys found him by tracking the two couriers that OBL trusted. It seems as tho his inner circle shrank to a very small group of people - probably both for security, as well as a result of our pursuit of him over the years.
I read that this compound was built in 2005, so he was somewhere else before then, but probably in the same general area.
Too bad the Seals can’t keep going and take out a really dangerous group, like the CPC.
I wish we could send ‘em down to Gitmo to finish the job on KSM...
Just speculating, but it’s been reported that Osama had ordered his bodyguards to shoot him if he was ever about to be captured. I suspect the helicopters landed and SEALs jumped out, stormed the house, Osama made his guards shoot him, and then the goons negotiated to surrender, were disarmed and let go or turned over to local forces. Troops searched the house, destroyed the downed chopper and got out of there with OBL’s body. 40 minutes sounds about right.
I am wondering if say (picking a figure out of the air) there was six bodyguards on duty, how much the reward would be worth split six ways.
Especially if they were told the SEALs were on the way and the alternative was a dirt nap.
The only thing that makes sense is that OBL has been dead for years and when BHO realized that the BC forgery would catch up with him, he had to play the “I killed bin Laden card.
He wasn’t living downtown in any old town in Pakistan, Abbottabad is the Hamptons or Vail of Pakistan, where all the big Generals and ISI spooks spend their holidays and summers,
The Al-Haq network controls the entire surrounding area, which is themselves an arm of the ISI.
crazy world,
I don’t think so. He would have high-tailed it out of there to somewhere else if someone in his party were tipped off. He wouldn’t have to go far. Heck, just go down the road and commandeer a house at gunpoint for an hour or two. Our guys couldn’t loiter there.
All in all tho, I think this was kept air-tight, and that’s why we succeeded. And on the flip side, I think that OBL kept the number of people in his party down to the bare minimum, which is why he was able to successfully stay there for so long.
OTOH, they may have had to shoot their way in after all. Some media reports out of Pakistan have OBL’s guards firing RPG’s from the rooftop and possibly shooting down the helicopter that crashed. Take it FWIW, just throwing it out there.
I hate to suggest it...but the pictures and burial-at-sea episode...leave you no body. And in this age & time....folks might speculate that they captured him and have already dumped him off at Area 51 in Nevada to be questioned for years and years.
